We had intermittent light snow showers most of the day Wednesday, and this seems to be what we can expect today. Our high temperatures will remain in the 30s through this week and there are no significant weather systems knocking on our door at this time. I guess that’s a good thing. I’m having a hard time getting motivated to get out and do my Christmas shopping. My biggest problem is that I hate crowds and long lines. I’m finding…
What a joy to see the sun this morning and almost no clouds in the sky. Looking out, it almost feels like a warm late autumn day, that is until you step out there. This is expected to be a very chilly week but there are no storm systems approaching anytime soon. Highs will be below average once again, but forecasters are saying that December is expected to be mild in our area. I’ll believe it when I see it….
Yesterday felt like a day in late March with highs reaching into the 50s and sunny skies for half of the day. Rain moved in toward evening and eventually turned to snow overnight. We only have a light cover of snow, just enough to make things white once again. We don’t expect more warm temps anytime soon. Our 9 AM temperature is 31°F (-1°C), the humidity is 89%. and skies are overcast. Winds are from the north at 9 mph,…
I woke around 3:30 AM to the sound of thunder and pouring rain. It was music to my ears This morning feels like a spring day, but I know that we’ll only have a one day reprieve from the winter weather. We could see highs nearing 50° today although there is still the chance for more rain. Most of the snow is gone except for shaded areas and just a trace in those places. Maybe I’ll get out for a…
Today is expected to be fairly decent with no precipitation in the forecast, and temperatures starting to moderate more to where they should be this time of year. We could even see a little sun this afternoon. We still have about 4.5 inches of snow cover and highs should reach the mid 30s. Hopefully it will melt the ice on my deck. Our 9:15 AM temp is 32.4°F (0°C0, the humidity is 86%, and skies are overcast. Winds are calm…
This morning looks like a typical day in January and it isn’t even officially winter yet. Hard to believe that it is still a month away. The long range forecast doesn’t look too good for us so we may as well just find some way to enjoy it. I really do like snow this time of year. With our lack of sunlight, the snow brightens it up a bit. People are starting to get their holiday lights up and that’s…
Today will really feel like winter with the high only around 30° and brisk winds. The snow that we have will most likely remain in place through this week with no warm ups expected anytime soon. We received a total of 5 inches from yesterday’s storm, and the temperatures rose high enough to clear the roads. Today should be relatively quiet with the possibilities of snow showers this afternoon. No additional accumulations are expected. Our 9 AM temp is 29.9°F…
I just listened to the latest extended forecast for the reminder of this winter season and it doesn’t sound good for winter haters. Previous forecasts of a mild winter have now been replaced with possible record low temps and snow amounts. El Nino seems to be weakening, totally changing the forecast from previously. Our winter storm has brought 3.5 inches of snow snow so far but it is expected to continue until 3 PM. They are still estimating that we…
A winter weather advisory has been issued for my area with winter storm warnings in effect for counties to our north and west. This could be our first BIG winter storm of the season and it isn’t even winter yet. Expected accumulations vary depending on the source. NOAA is saying 3-6 inches and the Weather Channel says 6-8. Those amounts are higher than what they said yesterday so apparently the storm direction will be heading more in our direction. It…
Yesterday was very pleasant with sun and temps rising above average for a change. Some places even hit 50°F, something we haven’t seen for awhile. Unfortunately, with the warmer temps came rain. It wasn’t much but just enough to make the road muddy. I’m hearing talk of a possible snow storm on Monday, which according to one of our local forecasters, could give us about 3-2 inches of new snow. I can’t ever remember getting this much snow in November. …
