More Summer-Like Weather for Mid Michigan

More Summer-Like Weather for Mid Michigan

It seems that August and September have switched this year.  We had below normal temps most of August and now that September is here, we continue to have temperatures that are much above normal.  I can’t ever remember having it this hot this late in the season, and especially for this length of time.  What’s even better is that it is expected to continue right through the weekend. We are heading up to Indian River today for the last time…

A Little Rain Expected For Mid Michigan

A Little Rain Expected For Mid Michigan

Radar is showing some rain headed our way, and we could certainly use it.  With the unseasonable heat that we have had, everything is drying out and lawns are brown.  I think we are making up for our cool August this month.  I don’t ever remember having to use the AC this late in the season.  Highs are expected to rise to near the 90° mark later this week.  Our trip to northern Michigan is coming up and I’m hoping…

Cooler Weather and Cloudy Skies For Mid Michigan

Cooler Weather and Cloudy Skies For Mid Michigan

We had a dry thundershower last night, something quite rare for our area.  We had a moderate but brief shower earlier which left us with 0.02 inches in my gauge.  Today is much cooler with highs struggling to reach the low 70s.  I have to admit that it feels good to me.  Yesterday was too warm.  We are expected to see some sun this afternoon, but it is already 3 PM and no sign of Mr. Sun yet. Our 3…

Possible Rain By Day’s End in Mid Michigan

Possible Rain By Day’s End in Mid Michigan

It seems strange to be using the AC this late in the season, but highs are reaching the low to  mid 80s.  There are thunderstorms in our forecast for later today and I hope that we do get some rain.  It’s been a while since we had any.  This morning is very mild and we were able to sleep with the windows open last night.  We have gone from mid October weather last week, to mid summer weather this week. …

Above Normal Temps Continue in Mid Michigan

Above Normal Temps Continue in Mid Michigan

We are still enjoying a week’s worth of mid summer weather and I love it.  I just hope it continues until the end of the month.  We are seeing more color every day and some think that this is happening early this year.  To me, it seems just about normal.  It’s hard to believe that September is half over already, and Christmas items will start appearing in our stores once again.  Where did the summer go??? Our 9:30 AM temp…

Summer Has Returned to Mid Michigan

Summer Has Returned to Mid Michigan

It seem good to be wearing short pants and short sleeved shirts once again . . . . . .and having the windows open.  This is expected to continue all of this week and I sure hope into next.  We are leaving for northern Michigan a week from today and I don’t want cold and rainy weather.  I guess we’ll just put up with what we get.  This morning was very foggy with almost zero visibility.  I was so happy…

Warmer Weather For Mid Michigan

Warmer Weather For Mid Michigan

Now that Hurricane Irma is pretty much history, her remnants are heading for us although it won’t have much affect on our weather.  We do have rain in the forecast for today but is isn’t expected to amount to much.  All of the people that I know in Florida seemed to survive Irma without too much damage and I’m happy for that.  I still haven’t heard anything from a cousin in Ft. Myers yet but all that live close to…

A Beautiful September Day in Mid Michigan

A Beautiful September Day in Mid Michigan

Now that Irma has become a tropical storm and no longer a threat to Florida, we can relax a bit,.  All the people that I know are okay and not too much damage.  That’s amazing consider the strength of this storm.  Most of the folks I know live near and around the Tampa – Orlando areas and they were spared from a storm surge which was their biggest fear.  Prayers do work! As for us, we will see a warmup…

The Drama of Irma Continues Sept. 10, 2017

The Drama of Irma Continues Sept. 10, 2017

It’s hard to think about anything else these days with friends and relatives facing this horrible hurricane in Florida.  I know so many people there, many snowbirds and others who live there year round.  Thankfully, the snowbirds are still here and wondering if they’ll have anything to go back to there.  I have a niece and nephew in Tampa that wouldn’t leave, and the family is greatly concerned for their safety. Here in Michigan, our cool weather continues with lows…

Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 Mid Michigan

Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 Mid Michigan

Today, although still on the chilly side, is a big improvement from the past two days.  At least our high should be in the upper 60s, and with the sun, that will feel comfortable.  We received about half an inch of badly needed rain over the past few days, something that we really needed.  At least with the cool temps, the ground won’t dry out so fast.  Today is just a nice autumn day, even though it really isn’t autumn…
