Another Round of Above-Normal Temps for Mid Michigan

Another Round of Above-Normal Temps for Mid Michigan

After all of the rain that we received over the past week, I noticed that our colors have become more vibrant and it is looking more normal for mid October.  But what isn’t normal is that our highs will once again be in the mid 60s to low 70s this week.  Unfortunately coming with it will be more strong winds.  This has been a fantastic autumn for us, unlike any that I can remember.  I know that it will come…

Much Cooler Temperatures With the Rain Ending – Mid Michigan

Much Cooler Temperatures With the Rain Ending – Mid Michigan

Since last Wednesday, we received a total of 3.38″ of rain.  I think that would put an end to the rain deficit.  This morning is starting out with mostly cloudy skies but I can see clearing coming from the west.   Yesterday only brought us an additions 0.19″ of rain but temperatures were dropping all day, so our high was early in the morning.  Winds were the issue with gusts reaching 40 mph at times.  I haven’t heard of any power…

The Drought is Over – Mid Michigan

The Drought is Over – Mid Michigan

As we frequently experience, our weather shifts from one extreme to another.  We sustained drought conditions through the month of September.  Now we are under flood watches and warnings.  As much as 5 inches of rain fell in southern Michigan yesterday, and showers and thunderstorms continue, mainly south of us.  We have received 2.09″ since 7:30 AM yesterday with most falling overnight.  The rain has stopped for now and radar is showing that we could still get more light rain…

Another Dark, Cloudy, Cool Day – Mid Michigan

Another Dark, Cloudy, Cool Day – Mid Michigan

Well, I would think that our drought is over with all of the rain that we have received the past week, and another round expected tomorrow.  This morning is dreary although not raining presently.  We had rain almost all day Thursday and temps never made it to 60°F like what was predicted.  Today is expected to reach the upper 60s so we’ll just have to wait and see if it happens. Our 8:45 AM temp is 56°F (13°C), the humidity…

More Much Needed Rain For Mid Michigan

More Much Needed Rain For Mid Michigan

Our Wednesday morning is beginning with light to moderate rain showers.  I emptied 0.54″ from my gauge at 8 AM this morning and it has been raining ever since.    It appears that this will last most of the day and that’s okay.  This should really put a dent in the rain deficit that we have this autumn season.  I don’t know if it will save our colors since we have very little.  One meteorologist said that we are pretty much…

The Past Few Days Eased The Drought – Mid Michigan

The Past Few Days Eased The Drought – Mid Michigan

We have been under drought conditions over the past month, and the past few days have put a dent in it.  Rain amounts on Thursday, Friday, and yesterday have totaled just under an inch in my  area and it was badly needed.  In fact, the drought has really affected our fall colors as we hardly have any color at all.  Leaves are drying up on the trees and falling.  What color we do have is dingy and dull.  I don’t…

We Have Rain To Start Our Day – Mid Michigan

We Have Rain To Start Our Day – Mid Michigan

We are finally getting some much needed rain. We received 0.27″ yesterday, and another 0.35″ overnight.   Radar is showing that it is far from over and that’s good news, although today shouldn’t be a total washout.  We could see a little sun later today along with strong winds.  I hung my Halloween decor out and this happens every time.  If it gets too windy, I’ll just have to go out and rescue them. Our 8:45 AM EDT temp is 65°F…

A Very Chilly Morning in Mid Michigan

A Very Chilly Morning in Mid Michigan

This morning really looked and felt like autumn.  The highs yesterday were still well above normal, but the overnight low was right on the mark.  There still hasn’t been a frost here but I don’t think that it is in the too distant future.  We received 0.03″ of rain yesterday before skies cleared, and there was a gorgeous full moon last night.  We really need more rain as things are very dry but our temps will continue to be very…

A Little Rain Expected For Our Wednesday in Mid Michigan

A Little Rain Expected For Our Wednesday in Mid Michigan

We have overcast skies this morning but no rain so far.  Last night was very warm with a low only at 70°F and the AC running all night.  Radar is showing a few light showers heading our way but light at best.   Temps aren’t expected to rise much more than they are right now and that’s fine.  It’s comfortable. Our 9:45 AM temp is 71°F (22°C), the humidity is 68%, and skies are cloudy.  Winds are from the SSW at…

Another Beautiful October Day in Mid Michigan

Another Beautiful October Day in Mid Michigan

We just couldn’t ask for nicer weather than what we are having.  There is rain in the forecast over the next several days but we actually could use it.  We should see temps in the 80s this afternoon and that should make a lot of people happy.
