Our Pre-January Thaw is Here – Mid Michigan

Yesterday, I said that a white Christmas was a certainty for us but now I’m not so sure.  Temperatures were on the rise all night and we lost about 3 inches of snow.  I haven’t been able to get my car out of the driveway since the snowstorm, so this may be the turning point.  Above normal temperatures are expected to continue this entire week so we could lose most of our snow.  Rain is in the forecast instead of snow and it would be nice to get a fresh layer on Christmas Eve.  Right now, however, that doesn’t seem likely at this time.

Our 9:45 AM temperature is 37°F (3°C), the humidity is 93%, and skies are cloudy with a light mist.  Winds are from the south at 7 mph, and the pressure is 29.88 in (1011.9 mb) and falling.  Visibility is 2.5 miles and the dew point is 35°F (2°C).  Yesterday’s high was 31°F (-1°C), and the overnight low was 32°F (0°C) with temps rising all night.  The record high for Dec. 17 was 60°F (16°C) set in 1984, and the record low is -7°F (-22°C) set in 1932.  Averages for this date are 33°F / 20°F.
