Potential Winter Storm Knocking On Our Door – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was gorgeous for a February day.  Record highs were the norm with some reaching 60°F.  But now we must pay.  There are no watches or warnings yet but I’m afraid that they are coming.  We made a one day trip up to Cheboygan and checked on the inlaw’s cabins.  There were still pockets of fairly deep snow there but otherwise, everything seem to be doing well.  Ice remained near the Lake Huron shoreline but open water further out.  It was a great day for a long road trip.

Today will be a transition period from spring back to winter.  This morning is sunny with mild temps, but clouds will build as the day goes on.  Early predictions have us  getting anywhere from 5-8 inches of snow.  It’s going to be a rain-snow mix, so amounts will depend on how soon the transition happens.  I’m hoping for mostly rain.

Our 9:45 AM temp is 48°F (9°C), the humidity is 54%, and winds are from the SW at 6 mph.  Skies are clear.  The pressure is 29.81 in (1009.2 mb) and falling.  Visibility is 10 miles and the dew point is 32°F (0°C).  Yesterday’s high was 60°F (16°C) and the overnight low was 44°F (7°C).  The record high for Feb. 27 is 62°F set in 1976, and the record low is -13°F set in 1994.  Averages for this date are 36°F / 18°F.
