Too Hot To Work Outdoors Today in Mid Michigan

Too Hot To Work Outdoors Today in Mid Michigan

My morning job was trimming the bushes in front of the deck.  When I started, the temperature was in the low 70s.  By the time I finished, it was in the 80s.  It was a messy job and much of the trimmings stuck to me since I was wet from sweat.  I never look forward to this job every summer but it has to be done.  Tomorrow or Wednesday, I will tackle the forsythia bushes.  They aren’t quite so difficult….

Thunderstorms Late Saturday Dampened Our Sunday Morning

Thunderstorms Late Saturday Dampened Our Sunday Morning

Thunderstorms developed just to our northwest Saturday evening bringing us 0.07″ of rainfall.  I watched it develop right over my area, then proceeded to move to the south southeast toward Detroit.  We didn’t get much rain from it but other areas around Ann Arbor got over an inch.   Our lawn has greened up nicely but other areas continue to have a substantial rain deficit. Our 9 AM temperature is 67°F (19°C), the humidity is 93% and skies are clear.  Winds…

A Perfect Morning Weatherwise In Mid Michigan

A Perfect Morning Weatherwise In Mid Michigan

This morning is perfect as a summer morning goes.  The sun is shining, temperatures are pleasant and just a  slight chance of  rain is in the forecast.  Yesterday was also nice but a bit too warm for my liking.  We have certainly needed to use the AC this summer almost every day, and I hate to see what our electric bill will be next year.  Anyway, I’m thankful to have it.  I have to admit that this has been a…

After Three Days Of Rain, I Think Our Drought Is Over – Mid Michigan

After Three Days Of Rain, I Think Our Drought Is Over – Mid Michigan

Today is lovely with drier humidity and plenty of sun.  Over the past three days, we have received about 2.5 to 3 inches of much needed rain.  We were up north  Tuesday and Wednesday and we only got a few sprinkles up there, but our lawn here is green once again.  Looking ahead at the extended forecast,  I see no chances of rain until next Wednesday and that’s okay.  I think we have enough for awhile. Our 12:30 PM temperature…

A Few Sprinkles In Northern Michigan This Monday Morning

A Few Sprinkles In Northern Michigan This Monday Morning

Although we haven’t had much rain here in Topinabee, Cheboygan and Mackinaw City had some pretty substantial rainfalls yesterday although CoCoRahs reports are only showing about 1/10 inch in those areas.  It’s been sprinkling off and on all morning here at the campground and our forecast isn’t promising much better for the remainder of the day.  Oh well, I guess we can’t have sunshine everyday, can we?  Radar is showing some heavy precip at home but it is all moving…

Northern Michigan Wasn’t Spared From The Heat

Northern Michigan Wasn’t Spared From The Heat

Another heat wave has affected Michigan once again although it is expected to be short-lived.  We should see cooler temperatures tomorrow and throughout the coming week.  Unfortunately, it will bring rain with it.  We have lucked with our weather so far and it has been dry with comfortable temperatures.  Yesterday was stifling however, with highs reaching the low 90s and high humidity. Our 9:30 AM temp is 79°F (26°C), the humidity is 60%, and winds are from the southwest at…

Much Needed Rain In The Forecast For Most of Michigan

Much Needed Rain In The Forecast For Most of Michigan

Yesterday brought rain to most of lower Michigan although  most areas didn’t get that much.  Here in Topinabee, it was mostly thunder and some wind.  The rain amounted to hard sprinkles which lasted about 15 minutes.  At home, they only got 0.05 in.  I don’t have a rain gauge here at the campground but I don’t think that we even got that much.  This morning is very cool and cloudy.  Our high is expected to be in the low 70s…
