Happy New Year From Mid Michigan
The new year came in wet and soggy here in southern Michigan. We had rain almost all day leaving 0.68″ in my rain gauge. The northern half of the lower peninsula received up to 9 inches of snow with some freezing rain mixed in. This morning is still very damp with overcast skies. Today won’t be the best of days with falling temps and a slight chance of snow showers in the forecast. Winds will also be quite brisk adding wind chill to the mix. I’m glad that I don’t have to go anywhere today.
Our 8:45 AM temp is 30.6°F (-1°C), the humidity is 92% and winds are from the northwest at 9 mph. Skies are overcast. The wind chill is 25°F (-4°C) and the pressure is 30.17 in (1021.7 mb) and rising. The dew point is 30°F (-1°C). Sunrise was at 8:07 AM and sunset will be at 5:12 PM. The average high for Jan. 1 is 30°F (-1°C), and the average low is 21°F (-6°C). The record high for Jan. 1 is 58°F set in 2005 and the record low is -10°F set in 1964.
