A Excessive Heat Warning Is In Effect For Michigan

A Excessive Heat Warning Is In Effect For Michigan

Today will not be the ideal day to be outdoors doing anything.  The heat index is expected to be well over 100° and that’s in the shade.  I’m seeing some storms moving in off Lake Michigan toward us but future radar images are showing that they will fall apart before reaching us.  The National Weather Service says that temperatures will climb in the upper 80s today, and into the mid to upper 90s on Friday and Saturday.  Oh please God,…

Very Uncomfortable Weather In Mid Michigan

Very Uncomfortable Weather In Mid Michigan

Today is a bit cooler than it has been, but with the high dew point and humidity, it feel like a sauna outdoors.  I thank the good Lord that I have AC.  This morning is cloudy as was yesterday.  We had a few short-lived showers which left 0.03″ of rain in my gauge.  The chance for more rain continues today although the radar is clear except for a few little pockets of rain down by Detroit. Our 10 AM temperature…

Wild Thunderstorms On Monday Afternoon – Mid Michigan

Wild Thunderstorms On Monday Afternoon – Mid Michigan

Thunderstorms developed right over our area yesterday afternoon putting an end to our dry spell.  I never did hear what the highest gust of wind was but I’m speculating that it had to be around 50-60  mph.  Many trees were down in Owosso and power was out most of the night.  I was in Owosso when it hit so I’m not sure how bad it was at my house, but there didn’t seem to be any damage although there was…

Clouds To Start Our Morning – Mid Michigan

Clouds To Start Our Morning – Mid Michigan

This morning is pleasantly cool with cloudy skies and thunderstorms in our forecast for this afternoon.   It has been over a week since we’ve had a decent rain, and with temps near 90° everyday, the ground is really getting dried out.  The remnants of Tropical Storm Barry is expected to head our way and I’m hoping that it doesn’t change directions.  We’ll just have to wait and see. This morning’s 9 AM temp is 70°F (27°C), the humidity is 58%,…

Continued Hot And Dry In Mid Michigan

Continued Hot And Dry In Mid Michigan

With all the complaining that we did about too much rain, now we could really use some.  We haven’t had a good rain since July 5, and with all of this heat, it is really getting dry.  Today will still be quite comfortable but then we are really going to get hit with some temps well into the 90s.  That’s much too hot for my liking.  Tropical Storm Barry will be moving our way and that seems to be our…

Another Warm-Up For Our Saturday – Mid Michigan

Another Warm-Up For Our Saturday – Mid Michigan

Today will start another surge of hot, humid weather which will continue well into next week.   This morning is cool with clear skies, and temps are expected to climb into the upper 80s this afternoon.  There is also the chance of some rain with a weak cold front moving across the state.  Unfortunately, it isn’t going to last long. Our 9 AM temperature is 73°F (23°C) , the humidity is 68% and the dew point is 61°F (16°C).  The pressure…

Cloudy And Cool For Our Friday Morning – Mid Michigan

Cloudy And Cool For Our Friday Morning – Mid Michigan

Our morning is a little chilly but it feels good.  We should see the sun a little later  and this will probably be our last comfortable day for a while.  There is more extreme heat heading our way and I don’t like it.  It gets too hot to even go outdoors for a few minutes.  At least the rain has ceased and the lawn has totally dried out . . . . finally! Our 9:15 AM temperature is 63°F (17°C),…

No Storms For Our Area – Mid Michigan

No Storms For Our Area – Mid Michigan

The severe weather that was to happen yesterday never did.  In fact, we got no rain at all here.  Most of it remained in northern Michigan and the U.P.  I haven’t heard reports of any damage although some were pretty strong.  Today is much cooler with lower dew points and I don’t think that we will need the AC. Right now (10:30 AM), our temp is 76°F (24°C), the humidity is 61% and winds are from the NW at 8…

Possible Severe Weather Heading Our Way – Mid Michigan

Possible Severe Weather Heading Our Way – Mid Michigan

The weather service is warning that we could see severe storms later today and tonight, but this morning is clear and very pleasant.  We have a grey haze to our sky caused from the wildfires in Canada.  After a couple of cooler, dryer days, we will be back in the heat again with more humidity.  That is expected to result in some heavy, if not severe, thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight.  I hope that they don’t cause too much damage…

The Heat Returns To Mid Michigan

The Heat Returns To Mid Michigan

Although we received a few day reprieve from the stifling heat and humidity, unfortunately, it won’t last long.  I guess we have to accept that it is July and this is normal.  The weather service is saying that we could get severe weather tomorrow night, and we certainly don’t need any of that either.  At least the sun is out and there is no rain in our forecast for today and that’s a good thing. Our 9:15 AM temperature is…
