A Beautiful Friday Morning In Mid Michigan

A Beautiful Friday Morning In Mid Michigan

We had another frost last night but the flowers that are left in my garden seem to be resident to it.  I should go out and pick whatever tomatoes that are left if not frost damaged.  Today will still be quite chilly, but at least the winds have diminished.  This weekend is expected to be beautiful with highs in the 60s once again. Our 9:45 AM temperature is 39°F (4°C), the humidity is 93%, and skies are clear, and winds…

More Wind And Clouds For Our Thursday In Mid Michigan

More Wind And Clouds For Our Thursday In Mid Michigan

Yesterday was not a nice day.  It began with drizzle and light sprinkles which left 0.05″ in my rain gauge.  Then the wind picked up in the afternoon and 30 mph gusts were not uncommon.  Although today will also be windy, it shouldn’t be quite as strong as yesterday.  I want to hang my Halloween decor outdoors but not as long as it is this windy.  Hopefully, it will calm down over the next few days. Our 8:45 AM temperature…

Cloudy, Cold. windy – Just A Crappy October Day In Mid Michigan

Cloudy, Cold. windy – Just A Crappy October Day In Mid Michigan

Yesterday was quite nice until storms started to brew over the state.  We took a trip to a cider mill and bought some donuts and cider.  Then we took them to the Holly Rec area where we ate some of them and just enjoyed being in the woods.  At that point, the sun was in and out of the clouds although radar was showing mostly light showers forming all around us.   There were  more potent storms forming in the…

First Frost Of The Season – Mid Michigan

First Frost Of The Season – Mid Michigan

Everything was white early this morning and I’m assuming that my garden is really done for the year.  my dahlias and mums still look pretty good but  we’ll see how that goes.  Mums are usually quite resistant to frost and I’m not sure about the dahlias.  I should go check the tomatoes and bring in the ones that are starting to ripen.  We continue to see a little more color everyday and northern Michigan is near, if not at it’s…

A Little Sun To Start Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

A Little Sun To Start Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

This morning is bringing us a little sun before the clouds roll in later today.  Yesterday was very cold . . . . at least it felt very cold with the brisk wind.  It was the first day where it was cold enough to need a winter coat.  Today won’t be much better although it seems good to see the sun.  Rain is in the forecast for most of the week with temperatures much below average.  I wouldn’t be surprised…

Clouds This Morning Giving Way To Sun This Afternoon – Mid Michigan

Clouds This Morning Giving Way To Sun This Afternoon – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was quite wet and dreary but showers ended late.  Today should bring a little sunshine but much colder temperatures.  I think that our warm weather is over for the year.  There was 0.25″ in my rain gauge but I’m seeing on the CoCoRahs reports this morning that some areas received well over an inch of rain.  Today is expected to dry out and the weekend should be bright but very chilly. Our 9:45 AM temperature is 41°F (5°C), the…

Rain Moving In For Our Friday – Mid Michigan

Rain Moving In For Our Friday – Mid Michigan

We had four lovely days this week, but every good thing must come to an end.  The forecast for the weekend and next week sounds more like November than October.  The trees are getting more color everyday, especially the yellows.  We haven’t seen many reds yet and I hope they do develop.  I’m hearing from the relatives up north that the colors are really beautiful right now and I’m wishing that it happened when we were there.  Our campground closes…

Possibly Our Last Decent Day – Mid Michigan

Possibly Our Last Decent Day – Mid Michigan

We better enjoy today because tomorrow will bring in a big change in our weather.  We will see significant drops in the temperatures that are expected to last through next week.  At this time, there isn’t much rain expected with this cold front but highs will remain below average.  Today and tomorrow will still see highs near 70° although some rain may move in late tomorrow.  I guess we knew that this was coming, and at least there is no…

A Very Chilly Morning In Mid Michigan

A Very Chilly Morning In Mid Michigan

These past few days have really brought the color out on the trees.  I guess it just takes some cold weather to do the trick.  The past few days have been sunny and quite warm, but the nights are very chilly.  Last night wasn’t as cold as Monday night but still quite brisk.  There was some fog when I got up this morning.  This may be the last of our warmer weather as next weeks forecast is calling for highs…

Monday was a beautiful day with sun all day long and just enough breeze to help dry the ground out a bit.  Highs made it into the upper 60s, so it was quite pleasant.  We can expect this weather to last most of this week, and then who knows what will happen?  I’m hearing that “s” word but I think it is for more north of us.  I have seen snow cover in October before although it doesn’t happen very…
