Warmer Than Average Once Again – Mid Michigan

Warmer Than Average Once Again – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was a beautiful day with plenty of sun and highs which made it up to 40°.  We did lose a little snow pack and I measured about 2.8 inches still on the ground this morning.  Today isn’t expected to be as warm, and a mix of rain and snow is in the forecast for late tonight.  Skies are mostly cloudy right now with filtered sun. Our 9:30 AM temperature is 23°F (-5°C), the humidity is 71% and winds are…

A Sunny Sundy And Warmer Temps – Mid Michigan

A Sunny Sundy And Warmer Temps – Mid Michigan

After a very frigid past two days, the sun today is a welcome sight.   The temperature even made it up to 40° according to my weather station.  Much of the snow is melting, especially in the sunny areas.  As of 8 AM, we still had 3.5 in of snow cover and I know that will be significantly less by tomorrow.  Days like this really give me spring fever. Yes, I’m ready for winter to end, even though we didn’t have…

Coldest Temperatures Of The Season Are Upon Us – Mid Michigan

Coldest Temperatures Of The Season Are Upon Us – Mid Michigan

My weather station is telling me that is got down to -6°F overnight although it was 1°F when I got up at 8:30 AM.  Regardless, it feels mighty cold out there in spite of the sun.  Skies have been clear all morning and are just now starting to cloud up a bit.  Thankfully, there isn’t much wind.  We have about 4.5 inches of snow cover now and I’m expecting much of that to melt this weekend. Our 1:30 PM temperature…

A Snowy Thursday For Michigan

A Snowy Thursday For Michigan

We woke to an additional 2+ inches of new snow and it is still coming down at a moderate clip.  The forecast called for 1-2 inches for my area, but we already have that and the radar is showing no end to it anytime soon.  What’s worse is that we have some very cold air heading our way for the next two days, the coldest of the season so far.  Mother Nature seems to be making up for our mild…

Another Winter Event Heading Our way – Mid Michigan

Another Winter Event Heading Our way – Mid Michigan

Current forecasts don’t seem as ominous as what I heard a few days ago.  They were actually talking blizzard conditions.  Now they are predicting just 1-3 inches in our area with winds in the 20 mph range.  I think we can deal with that.  We had some sun earlier but now clouds have moved in.  The snow is expected to begin late tonight and continue into tomorrow. Our 2 PM temperature is 32°F (0°C), the humidity is 66% and skies…

A Cloudy, Uneventful Weather Day In Mid Michigan

A Cloudy, Uneventful Weather Day In Mid Michigan

Our Tuesday morning is cloudy but bright with the snow.  We had filtered sunlight earlier but that has passed.  There is nothing special expected today in the weather department, just a normal February day.  Yesterday was quite nice with plenty of sun and very little wind.  It was a good day for snow cleanup. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 31°F (-1°C), the humidity is 77%, and winds are from the west at 4-9 mph.  The dew point is 24°F (-4°C)…

Yesterday’s Snowstorm Was A Bust – Mid Michigan

Yesterday’s Snowstorm Was A Bust – Mid Michigan

Yes, we had a few snow squalls which looked pretty impressive, but much of what we got melted after midnight.  Temp’s rose into the mid 30s overnight and I only measured about 1 inch of icy snow this morning.  I know that we easily go 2 inches but that’s okay.  I’m happy with the three inches of snow cover that remains.  We don’t need anymore. Our 9:45 AM temperature is 30°F (-1°C), the humidity is 30%, and winds are from…

Another Winter Weather Advisory For Michigan

Another Winter Weather Advisory For Michigan

The entire lower peninsula and part of the UP is under a winter weather advisory with anywhere from two to five more inches of snow expected, depending on where you are.  My area is in the 2-3 inch range.  Temperatures have cooled off dramatically so what snow we get won’t be going anywhere soon.  At least we aren’t getting any major storms or arctic blasts, at least not yet.  The major issue here in Michigan is water levels in the…

Snow Began, Now Won’t Quit – Mid Michigan

Snow Began, Now Won’t Quit – Mid Michigan

The last few days have brought us snow and more snow.  We started out with a few inches, then four inches yesterday.  We have had off and on snow showers most of today but no real accumulations.  Our snow pack is about 4 inches right now and another snow system is expected tomorrow with another 2-4 inches for us.  I guess that Mother Nature decided that she’s running out of time and better give us some winter before it’s too…

Winter Has Returned With A Vengeance – Mid Michigan

Winter Has Returned With A Vengeance – Mid Michigan

We received about 4 inches of snow over the last 36 hours and they are telling us that we could get another 1-3 on Sunday.  We knew that we weren’t going to get away without some winter weather after a very mild December and January.  The extended forecast is showing no warmups for the next 10 days, so it looks like what snow we get will be with us for awhile. Our 11 Am temperature is 29°F (-2C), the humidity…
