Meteorological Spring Has A Mild Beginning In Mid Michigan

Our first day of spring, meteorologically speaking, is starting out very nice.  Skies are mostly cloudy and there is a slight chance of rain, but it does feel like spring.  I haven’t seen any robins yet but the red-wind blackbirds are back, and they usually show up about the same time as the robins.  I’m always happy to see the first day of March, because that means that winter is really on the home stretch.  Even if we get measurable snow, it doesn’t last long.  Another plus is that it is still daylight at 6 PM now.

Our 12:15 PM temperature is 43°F, the humidity is 75%, and skies are cloudy.  Winds are from the W at 3-11  mph and the wind chill is 37°F.  The dew point is 35°F and visibility is 11 miles.  The pressure is 29.69 in and rising.  Yesterday’s high was 34°F and the overnight low was 31°F.  Average temps for this date are 34°F / 19°F.  Sunrise was at 7:13 AM and sunset will be at 6:26 PM.
