A Little Cooler After The Storms – Mid Michigan

A Little Cooler After The Storms – Mid Michigan

Yesterday began with clear skies, but it didn’t last long.  About 2 PM, the clouds started rolling in, and the radar showed developing small scattered cells  of thunderstorms developing , mainly to our south.  As they moved northward, they increase in size and merged with each other.  We heard constant thunder most of the afternoon, although we got very little rain.  Then around 7 PM. another cluster of merged cells came at us from the northwest, and gave us a…

Sunny Morning Could Result In Afternoon Storms – Mid Michigan

Sunny Morning Could Result In Afternoon Storms – Mid Michigan

Once again, we have a nice, sunny morning.  Temperatures are rising quickly which will probably usher in some  storms this afternoon.  The Weather Service is telling us to expect some strong storms, possible reaching severe level.  We really could use the rain but not damaging winds or hail.  Our last significant rainfall was on May 4.  With this hot weather that we’ve had the past week, it doesn’t’ take long for everything to dry out.  We used the AC yesterday…

Another Beautiful Summer-Like Day In Mid Michigan

Another Beautiful Summer-Like Day In Mid Michigan

Yesterday was wonderful and today will be as well.  So far, our sky is clear and temps are already in the low 80s.  Our weather is expected to take a turn tomorrow with a bit of a cool-down and possible thunderstorms.  I just hope we don’t get what Minnesota has had the past two days.  One day of severe weather is bad enough, but when it happens multiple days in a row, that’s a bit much.  There has been a…

A Lovely Summer-Like Day In Mid Michigan

A Lovely Summer-Like Day In Mid Michigan

The leaves have really popped out over the past two days.  It’s amazing what a couple of 80 degree days will do.  The storms that I mentioned yesterday never reached us, and it seems that not many got much rain from them.  Mecosta County had some flooding, but I thought it would be much worse, as long as it seemed to stay in that one area.  Well, that’s good for everyone concerned.  We have a bit of a cool-down coming…

Rain Threatening But Missing Us So Far – Mid Michigan

Rain Threatening But Missing Us So Far – Mid Michigan

Radar is showing a fragmented thunderstorm moving in my direction.  In fact, it’s been on the radar for the past 3 hours but doesn’t seem to know where it want’s to go.  There was a large red cell which seemed to be coming south from the Midland area, then it showed signs of diminishing.  Then small red cells started forming in the conglomerate and has since combined into a larger red cell once again.  The problem is that I can’t…

Spring Weather Is Finally Here – Mid Michigan

Spring Weather Is Finally Here – Mid Michigan

Mother’s Day was quite nice, but we lost our sun half way through the day.  Radar showed some light showers over much of the state but the humidity and dew point was too low for any of it to reach the ground.  This morning is sunny and highs should make it into the low 70s.  This week should be mostly dry although rain is mentioned in some of the forecasts.  We certainly don’t need anymore rain for awhile. Our 10:45…

Mother’s Day In Michigan

Mother’s Day In Michigan

Our day began with clear skies and moderate temperatures.  Now, clouds have taken over but temperatures are quite warm.    Winds aren’t too strong so it is a very pleasant day.  Each day this week will continue to get a little warmer and mid 80s are expected by week’s end.  It’s amazing how quickly everything comes alive with warm air.  Our leaves are about 1-2 weeks late this year with all the cold weather that we’ve had.  Hopefully, it will be…

A Beutiful, Sunny Saturday For Mid Michigan

A Beutiful, Sunny Saturday For Mid Michigan

The only thing that could make today better would be either warmer temperatures or less wind.  Otherwise, It’s perfect.  We had light rain and clouds half of yesterday, and even when the rain stopped, it was windy.  We still have some wind today, but with the sun, it doesn’t feel too bad.  A big warm-up is happening by next Wednesday, and it is expected to be just, plain hot.  This happens so often here in the spring. We go from…

A Little Rain To Start Our Friday – Mid Michigan

A Little Rain To Start Our Friday – Mid Michigan

We have light rain this morning which is expected to end by the afternoon.  The weekend looks great with sun and mild temperatures.  Then we are told that it will get hot next week, with an extended period of 80 degree weather beginning mid-week.  I don’t think anyone is complaining about that.  In fact, some of us were wondering if it was ever going to happen.  The ground is saturated and the river is very high, so we need some…

Improvement In Our Weather Begins Today – Mid Michigan

Improvement In Our Weather Begins Today – Mid Michigan

We had light to moderate rain all day on Tuesday leaving us with 0.69 in total.  Skies remained cloudy all morning and have become partly cloudy since then.  Forecasts are calling for a major warm-up next week, with highs reaching into the 70s and 80s.  We’ve waited a long time for this and it certainly will be welcome.  I finally put my oriole and hummingbird feeders out today, thanks to a Facebook friend for the reminder.  I haven’t seen any…
