Scattered Showers/Thunderstorms Possible Today – Mid Michigan

Scattered Showers/Thunderstorms Possible Today – Mid Michigan

I’m already seeing some storms popping up on radar so I think we will have a wet weekend ahead.  I haven’t watered my garden for a few days, so I’m hoping that the rain doesn’t all miss us.  My weather station is showing one lightning strike 11 miles away, but radar isn’t showing anything coming our way as yet.  I don’t think we’ll see much sun today but that will help keep the temperatures down.  I’m seeing a few raindrops…

Another Ideal Day Before The Rain – Mid Michigan

Another Ideal Day Before The Rain – Mid Michigan

We have had great weather all this week and today will be no exception.  This weekend, however, will be wet if the local weather gurus have it right.  We should see an increase in cloud cover later but no rain is expected until tomorrow.  Temperatures will cool down a little but will remain in the average range.  This has been a nice summer weather-wise.  At least I think so.  Those 90 degree days have been too warm for my liking,…

A Very Warm, Calm Thursday For Mid Michigan

A Very Warm, Calm Thursday For Mid Michigan

There were numerous thunderstorms which popped up yesterday afternoon, and just like Tuesday, they were moving from the NE to the SW, and remained to the East of us.  Most places received very little rain, but others got hail with heavy, brief  showers.  We only got a few sprinkles of rain here.  The cloud formations were beautiful and they did little to bock the sun.  We took a ride out to our park in Laingsburg, where this picture was taken, …

More Perfect Summer Weather In Mid Michigan

More Perfect Summer Weather In Mid Michigan

We can’t have nicer weather than what we are getting this week.  Temperatures are perfect and just a few clouds from time to time.  We all still have some Covid symptoms but nothing severe, and we are still testing positive.  The CDC just came out with new guidelines which are much more relaxed from previously.  So this virus doesn’t seem to be considered much of a risk anymore.  We still aren’t going anywhere that we don’t have to, even though…

So Where’s The Sun? Mid Michigan

So Where’s The Sun? Mid Michigan

Yesterday was rainy on the western side of the state.  Here where I am, all we got was some sprinkles which left 0.01″ in my gauge.  Today was supposed to start out with clouds, then clear up for the afternoon. At least that’s what a local forecast called for.  I’m still waiting for the sun to appear, and the sky looks like rain although there is nothing showing up on radar.  Yesterday was very chilly for mid August and highs…

Perfect Summer Weather Continues In Mid Michigan

Perfect Summer Weather Continues In Mid Michigan

I’m really enjoying this weather.  It seems so good to have the windows open for a change, instead of having the AC on all day.  The high today is expected to only reach the upper 70s and the humidity will be low, so that’s perfect in my book.  There is only a slight chance of rain over the next few days, but even at that, it isn’t expected to be much if any at all.  I’m seeing that the extended…

A Perfect Summer Day In Mid Michigan

A Perfect Summer Day In Mid Michigan

This has been a perfect summer day.  There was a lot of sun and mild, but not hot, temperatures.  We had just enough breeze to open the windows and air out the house.  This entire week is expected to be like this with just a slight chance of rain a few days.  It’s such a relief after the repressive hot and humid weather that we’ve had this summer.  One local meteorologist said that he thinks that weather is over for…

Hopefully, The Last Of Our Hot Weather – Mid Michigan

Hopefully, The Last Of Our Hot Weather – Mid Michigan

We had a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon which dropped 0.74″ of rain on us.  Overnight, we received another 0.03″, so I think we have enough rain for a while.  Today was supposed to be the beginning of our cool-down, but now the high is expected to reach the upper  80s once again.  The rest of the week should see highs only in the 70s.  That sounds wonderful to me.  This has been the hottest summer that we have had in a…

Much Too Hot In Mid Michigan

Much Too Hot In Mid Michigan

Okay, I think I’m ready for autumn.  This  90°F weather is really getting to me.  It’s too hot to even go out and sit.  Even my outdoor cats don’t want any part of it and would rather hang out in the basement.  That’s okay.  I keep a fresh bowl of water on the deck for them, or any other creatures that need it.  Occasionally I see a raccoon or an opossum out there as well.  I also keep the moats…

A Peaceful Period After The Storms

A Peaceful Period After The Storms

After two rather stormy, wet days, today is expected to be partly sunny, and we are beginning to see the sun peek out a little now.  Wednesday brought some heavy, abundant thunderstorms which dropped an inch and a quarter of rain on my area, while others received over two inches.  I think that southern Michigan has enough rain for awhile.  Yesterday brought a few more small cells of heavy storms and there were even a few funnel clouds spotted, but…
