Another Warm, Summer Day in Mid Michigan

Another Warm, Summer Day in Mid Michigan

Once again we have a very warm, low humidity day.  Most are loving it, especially those who love water sports.  Winds will be light and there is no rain in the foreseeable future for us.  Our temperatures should reach into the 80s once again, but the good thing is that it cools off at night so that we can have the windows open.  I guess you could say that we have perfect summer weather. Our 12:45 PM temperature is 84°F…

Feels Like Summer In Mid Michigan

Feels Like Summer In Mid Michigan

Today is very warm and sunny.  We can still see evidence of the Canadian fires in the sky but it doesn’t seem as bad today.  It just depends on the direction of the wind.    There really isn’t much of a breeze today and that makes being outdoors more uncomfortable.  We aren’t expecting rain anytime soon, and with this heat, the ground is drying out very quickly.  On the positive side, the grass doesn’t need mowing as often. Our 2:30 PM…

A Lovely Father’s Day In Mid Michigan

A Lovely Father’s Day In Mid Michigan

Today will be great for anyone celebrating Father’s Day with a cookout.  The weather couldn’t be better.  Highs should reach the low to mid 80s and the humidity will be at a comfortable level.  There is no rain in the foreseeable future, but that isn’t necessarily a good thing.  A very warm week is expected here in mid Michigan and that’s great for summer lovers.  It’s hard to believe that June is half over already, and in another week, our…

The Heat Has Returned – Mid Michigan

The Heat Has Returned – Mid Michigan

We are heading back into hot and dry this week, with no rain expected anytime in the near future.  I’m happy that we got what we did, but not for the severe weather that some here in the state got.  There was one confirmed EF1 tornado in Detroit Beach, which is down in Monroe County.  Then there was a massive hail storm in Howell, which turned the ground white and caused quite a bit of damage.  My daughter lives in…

Chilly Temps Following A Stormy Thursday – Mid Michigan

Chilly Temps Following A Stormy Thursday – Mid Michigan

We finally received some much needed rain yesterday.  We had a few sprinkles early, then late in the afternoon, a storm developed right over us, giving us 0.31″ of rain in about 15 minutes.  The storm then moved to the ENE, merging with other storms which became severe over southern Michigan.  A few tornado warnings were issued but I heard of no reported tornadoes in Michigan.  As the storms moved into Ohio, they became more severe and there was tornado…

Some Rain For our Thursday – Mid Michigan

Some Rain For our Thursday – Mid Michigan

We had a brief shower this morning which left 0.06″ in my rain gauge.  Hopefully, we’ll get a lot more.  There is rain predicted for most of the day, not a steady rain, just scattered thunderstorms.  Right now the sun is trying to peek through and temps are on the rise.  We should see a high in the upper 70s this afternoon.  Maybe the sun will bring on some of those thunderstorms. Our 12:45 PM temperature is 65°F (18°C),  the…

Sunny And A little Warmer – Mid Michigan

Sunny And A little Warmer – Mid Michigan

Our weather feels more like early May instead of June.  We have a few days of below average temperatures but it did bring us some rain.  More is expected this afternoon and later this week.  We’ll take all we can get.  I don’t mind the cool temps but do prefer it to reach into the 70s ideally.  At least the ground isn’t drying out so quickly. Our 10:45 AM temperature is 64°F (17°C), the humidity is 60%, and winds are…

Cloudy And Chilly on This Monday – Mid Michigan

Cloudy And Chilly on This Monday – Mid Michigan

We had rain most of Sunday and we received 0.20″ and we are grateful for it.  Yes, we could use a lot more, and that could happen tomorrow.  The air seems cleaner now and most of the smoke and dust seem to have settled.  The sun was out briefly a while ago but didn’t last long.  Yesterday and today will have highs only in the 60s. Our 3 PM temperature is 62°F (17°C), the humidity is 58%, and winds are…

Light Rain For Our Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

Light Rain For Our Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

Any rain is appreciated but we need a lot more than what we’ve gotten so far.  Radar is showing a lot more to come, but it only looks like light rain.  we need a good downpour.  We have about a 2-3 inch rain deficit for this year so far and it will take about a week’s worth of good, steady, moderate rain to make it up.  I’m not seeing that as a possibility anytime soon.  At least, we’re getting enough…

Still Seeing Smoke In The Skies – Mid Michigan

Still Seeing Smoke In The Skies – Mid Michigan

Our skies are basically clear but still have a brownish haze visible from the Canadian wildfires.  There is satellite imagery showing that these fires are probably purposely set which is  criminal.  I hope the Canadian government finds out who is doing it.  As for  us, we are expecting some much needed rain beginning tonight and lasting over the next several days.  It is expected to do much to clear our air, at least for the near future.  It won’t do…
