Mid Michigan Weather

We had thunderstorms pass overnight, but most missed my area.  There was only 0.06″ in my gauge this morning although my weather station is showing multiple lightning strikes with the closest 17 miles away.  The weather service is saying that our area could have severe weather today and tonight, so I’m hoping that it misses us also.  We were planning a trip to our campground today but decided to wait until tomorrow, because of the severe weather threat. I listened to our weather forecast on the 11 PM news last night, and there was a large mass of rain showing on radar over Wisconsin.  It appeared to me that it was heading in our direction, but the meteorologist said that it would move to the north and my area would get very little if any of it.  Wrong!  About 3AM, I got an alert from Storm Shield that a strong thunderstorm was heading our way, then I dozed…

We are seeing our temperatures rising a little more everyday with excessive heat expected next week.  The heat index is expected to rise above 100 degrees one day.  We’ll be up north and hopefully it won’t be that hot up there.  Today is expected to be sunny with just a few passing clouds.  Some areas could see some pop-up showers and thunderstorms however.  There were a few yesterday which produced rainfall up to an inch.  As for us, we haven’t…

Our wonderful summer weather continues with plenty of sun, low humidity, and warm temperatures.  Unfortunately we have a heat wave coming with more highs in the 80s to near 90 degrees.  We’ll be heading north again a week from today, and I’m happy that our new AC unit has been installed in our trailer since it’s supposed to be very hot up there next week.   There is no rain in our forecast until next Sunday and I’m welcoming this dry…

Our morning temperatures started out in the 50s, and it was great sleeping weather last night.  Today has been comfortably cool with plenty of sun.  This is great weather and for me, it’s perfect.  I know that there is more hot, humid weather coming but I’ll enjoy this while it lasts.  We had a brief shower yesterday afternoon which left us with 0.04″, not really enough to make a difference.  There is no more rain in our forecast now until…

There was dense fog when I got up this morning with visibility less than a mile.  That has dissipated but skies remain cloudy.  We should see the sun later today with temps in the low to mid 80s.  Tomorrow is expected to be a stormy one with that weather system arriving tonight.  Local forecasters are saying that severe storms are possible.   After the tornadoes on Saturday, it makes some a bit nervous.  We have to drive to Detroit tomorrow and…

Today is our last day here for this trip.  It rained most of Saturday but toward evening, the sky cleared and we even saw a little sun.  Temperatures never got as warm as what was predicted and we were happy about that.  Down state, however, there were many severe storms and even tornadoes.  Macomb and Oakland counties were hit the hardest although there was wind damage reported in other parts of the state also, not to mention more flooding.
