Mid Michigan Weather

Our weather is wonderful and I hope it continues through the remainder of the month.  Hurricane Florence is expected to make landfall today and my prayers go out for those in it’s path.  The amount of rain that they are expecting is staggering and I hope that everyone has evacuated from these areas.  As for us, our weather remains tranquil with above normal temperatures expected through the weekend. Our morning began with visibility close to zero, but now that the sun is up, it seems to be dissipating.  Today should be the beginning of a significant warm-up for us with highs expected in the mid 70s.  Hurricane Florence should keep a large high pressure center in place most of the week which will bring us wonderful weather.  Our last trip to our campground is in another week and I’m hoping that this weather holds until we get back. …

With the eastern seaboard bracing for Hurricane Florence, we are expected to be spared from this storm, even though it appears to be heading right for us.  One local meteorologist  said that strong high pressure will keep it to our east and it will stall out over those unfortunate to be in it’s path causing flooding rains.  I certainly hope it does miss us since we don’t need anymore rain.  At this time, our extended forecast looks terrific with plenty…

Yesterday brought more heavy rain to the same areas that were affected by Tuesday’s storms.  We sat out last night watching the lightning as it passed to our  northwest.  We did receive a little rain overnight, only 0.01″.  The areas that were hit received over an inch of rain in some places.  This is becoming a daily event and it is expected to continue until Thursday.  Then we will finally get some dryer, cooler temps.  The past several days have…

Thousands are still without power in northern lower Michigan after severe storms moved through the state on Tuesday night.  At least 4 tornadoes have been confirmed and much straight line wind damage in the mid sections of the state.  The above picture is from an EF2 tornado which struck in Lapeer.  Clare, Ogemaw, and Arenac Counties were also hard hit.  We were very lucky because although we received very heavy rain, there was no wind damage.  We did have quite…
