Severe storm warnings were widespread yesterday afternoon as the cold front moved across lower Michigan. There were impressive photos of a large shelf cloud that passed over the Pontiac area as storms became severe after forming over us. I watched this grow from a little blip on the radar to a massive red cell which covered a large area from the thump down to the Detroit area. Although severe storms hit areas to our north, we didn’t get one drop of rain. The Houghton Lake area received up to 3/4 inch of rain, but unfortunately, it also brought destructive winds. We continue to have rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow and I hope that it all doesn’t miss us again. July 4th brought some folks a little rain and in some cases, a lot of rain. We, however, received none.
