I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Sunday Morning Showers in Mid Michigan

This morning is very mild after a line of showers and thunderstorms moved over the state overnight from the northwest.  They didn’t reach us until 6:30 this morning, and all that that remained were some light showers.  There was only 0.09″ in my gauge at 8:30 AM.  Radar is still showing some scattered areas of rain but this is expected to end later this afternoon. Our 9:15 AM temp is 64°F, the humidity is 85%, and skies are cloudy.  The…

June 2, Mid Michigan

Today is beginning with mostly clear skies, cool temperatures, and there is a slight chance of rain later in the day.  I love the month of June.  Everything seems so green and fresh,  Nature hasn’t been affected yet by molds, fungus, and heat.  The evenings are very quiet with an occasional sound of a bird or a barking dog.  Even the frogs have quieted down.  With all the rain that we have had this spring, I can’t believe that the…

Mid Michigan Weather, June 1 2017

Today is the first day of summer, meteorlogically speaking, and it looks like it will be a good one.  There is no rain expected and decreased winds from what we have been having.  It’ll be a good day for finishing my planting even though my back is still very sore. I’m still having problems with this new site.  I tried to add a picture and it still isn’t happening.  I don’t know what I did wrong.  Maybe I need  step-by-step…

Hello to everyone from Weatherbug Backyard.  It will seem great to hear from all of you again.  This is my first post on Weatherquack, and am still trying to figure it out.  I haven’t found how to add pictures, but I’m sure that someone can enlighten me. This has been yet another very windy day.  I just received a post on Facebook from local meteorologist, Mark Torragrossa, that this has been the windiest May for us in 20 year.  It’s…
