A Little Sunshine For Our Monday – Mid Michigan

A Little Sunshine For Our Monday – Mid Michigan

It seems so good to see the sun once again, but it sure isn’t doing much to warm it up.  Maybe I’m expecting too much for this time of year, but September really spoiled us.  It’s going to be interesting as to how our winter will be.  If this cycle continues, we should have below normal temps one month, then above normal temps the next.  NOAA is still predicting a very snowy winter for us and I guess we are…

Showers and Thunderstorms Continue For Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

Showers and Thunderstorms Continue For Our Sunday – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was a complete washout with nearly continuous rain and a thunderstorm in the afternoon.  The Michigan State-Penn State game was postponed for 3.5 hours and the stadium was evacuated because of lightning.  Because of this storm, areas of Lansing were without power for awhile.  This is quite unusual for Michigan as we rarely have thunderstorms during football games here.  But it was well worth it for the MSU fans as their team was victorious (which was a surprise for…

We had one sunny day and now back to the clouds and rain.  At least our temperatures will remain mild for the next few days.  Today is expected to be pretty much a washout so no outdoor activities are planned.  Tomorrow could bring thunderstorms with a slight chance of severe for my area.  At this time, our forecast is calling for a period of sunny days next week but temps will be a bit below normal.   I don’t put too…

Finally, Some Sun in Mid Michigan

Finally, Some Sun in Mid Michigan

This morning is bright for a change, with the promise of becoming a beautiful, sunny day.  Since it is my birthday, I really appreciate it.  Temperatures are expected to be about average for this date with light winds.  I may just get out for a long walk before my kids show up this afternoon.  I don’t think that we will have many more days like this, and I’m just happy that the rain is over for now.  It’s almost time…

Milder Weather For Mid Michigan

Milder Weather For Mid Michigan

We had a total of 0.37 in overnight rainfall, and more is expected over the next few days.  This morning is gloomy and damp, but at least it isn’t as chilly as the past few days.  I’m so happy for the Houston Astros and their World Series win last night.  The Tiger’s ex-pitcher, Justin Verlander, helped win  it for them, and after all that Houston has been through, they now have something to celebrate.  I’m so happy for them as…

Another Warmup Heading Our Way – Mid Michigan

Another Warmup Heading Our Way – Mid Michigan

After waking to our first snow cover yesterday morning, today will bring warmer temperatures.  Halloween was not the best for our kids, but I don’t think they notice the cold weather as they aim for their quest of abundant candy and treats.  We never get any kids here where we live but it was fun watching them as I headed home from work.  The little ones are so excited and can hardly wait for mom or dad as they parade…

Clouds, Sprinkles, and Wind to Start Our Monday – Mid Michigan

Clouds, Sprinkles, and Wind to Start Our Monday – Mid Michigan

Our mornings are so dark and dreary these days.  I can’t wait to get back on standard time again.  When it’s this dark, I don’t even feel like getting out of bed.  I know that it will be dark earlier in the evening, but I prefer to have the daylight in the morning myself.  That will happen this Sunday.  This morning is beginning with a few sprinkles, giving us a trace of rain so far.  We have an 80% chance…

Rain For Our Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

Rain For Our Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

Our morning is starting out with clouds and very damp conditions.  We received very light rain late Saturday afternoon, but most came overnight.  There was only 0.03″ in my gauge but everything is wet this morning.  The cool temps will prevail through this week with no long term sign of any warmups.  It looks like Halloween will be chilly for the kids.  At least we haven’t seen any snow or sleet as yet, but I’m sure that it won’t be…

It’s a Dreary, Cold Morning in Mid Michigan

It’s a Dreary, Cold Morning in Mid Michigan

Although we haven’t seen anything is the way of snow or sleet yet, it certainly feels cold enough for some frozen precipitation.  Yesterday brought us some light rain early in the day and there was 0.07″ in my gauge this morning.  I had to work so the weather didn’t really affect me much, but today we need to get out and get some yard stuff done.  The lawn needs mowing and I suspect that we won’t be doing that too…

First Frost of the Season – Mid Michigan

First Frost of the Season – Mid Michigan

We were warned by a local meteorologist that we could get a frost last night, and it did indeed happen.  There were no warnings or advisories posted since NOAA figured that the growing season is over.  I do still have a few flowers alive in my garden and I’m not sure if they will survive this morning’s frost.  I guess I’ll know soon.  At any rate, I didn’t do anything to protect them since it is so late in the…
