Flood Watches, Fog, Heavy Rain For Our Tuesday – Mid Michigan

Flood Watches, Fog, Heavy Rain For Our Tuesday – Mid Michigan

Once again, we received much more precip than what was predicted.  There was 1.20 inches in my gauge as of 8 AM this morning and moderate rain continues at this time.  The rain began around 1:30 PM yesterday and increased in intensity as the day wore on.   Dense fog developed with the rain.  A flood watch was issued early in the day and continues through tomorrow.  We have very little snow cover left, mainly where snow piles were.  We could…

Heavy Rain But Warm Temps In Store For Mid Michigan

Heavy Rain But Warm Temps In Store For Mid Michigan

Temperatures as high as the 60s are in our forecast for this upcoming week, but with it comes heavy rain which has already produced flood watches in many areas.  We still have about 3.8 inches of snow cover but that won’t last long with the rain that’s expected. This morning has been cloudy with a light mist but temps are on the rise and will continue to do so today.  The rain should begin this afternoon, continuing through tomorrow and…

A Little Snow Cover Which Didn’t Last Long – Mid Michigan

A Little Snow Cover Which Didn’t Last Long – Mid Michigan

We rose this morning to a world of white but it didn’t last long.  There was half an inch of new snow on the deck, but by the time we returned home from church, it was gone.  Can’t say that I’m disappointed.  Our extended forecast is calling for large amounts of rain heading our way on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week.  Projected amounts are for 3+ inches possible.  That should take care of the remainder of the snow…

Springlike Weather This Week For Mid Michigan

Springlike Weather This Week For Mid Michigan

We have about 4.5 inches of snow cover as of this morning.  Where we cleared the snow, it is down to bare ground.  We have very warm temperatures in the forecast for mid week and that should rid us of the rest.  I’ve had enough of snow for this season and especially slippery roads.  At least when we get snow this late in the season, we know that it will be short-lived.  This morning is cloudy and there is a…

Starting To Look Like Spring in Mid Michigan

Starting To Look Like Spring in Mid Michigan

We lost a lot of snow with the warm temperatures that we have had the past two days.  There is still about 5.5 inches of snow cover but it is continuing to melt with temps remaining above freezing.  The next few days will be cold but then another warmup following that.  Most of the ice is gone from the roads and my driveway, and I hope that it is gone for the remainder of the season.  That’s probably asking too…

A Sunny Morning With Warmer Weather On The Way – Mid Michigan

A Sunny Morning With Warmer Weather On The Way – Mid Michigan

It is looking like a beautiful morning  with temperatures that almost feel balmy.  We still have about 10 inches of snow cover but that should diminish over the next few days.  We did lose a little yesterday with the sun shining most of the day, and that will continue today and tomorrow with highs expected in the 40s.  It is really starting to look like spring with the position of the sun climbing higher in the sky, and sunset happening…

Yes! We Have Snow! – Mid Michigan

Yes! We Have Snow! – Mid Michigan

We now have about 14 inches of snow cover with the additional 4 inches that we received overnight . . . . and it’s still coming down.  It seems like it will never end.  The plow came down our road late yesterday, but now we have more to remove.  The forecast is calling for an end around 4 pm and I’m hoping that it will be sooner.  This is the most snow that we have had in about 5 years….

The End of our Snow Storm but More Snow to Come – Mid Michigan

The End of our Snow Storm but More Snow to Come – Mid Michigan

Although the big snow is over, we will continue to see a little more accumulations through tomorrow.  It stopped snowing about 4 PM yesterday afternoon but we are having light flurries right now.  At least we had a chance to clear most of it away before the next one comes.  This is really getting old.  I’m certainly ready for spring.  We now have about 11 inches of snow cover with another 1-3 expected by tomorrow.  Southern counties of the state…

We have about 2 inches of new snow so far and still coming down. Latest forecasts are still calling for another 3-5 inches for us. As of 8 AM this morning, we have 8 inches of snow cover so far. Driving to work this afternoon will not be fun but at least we have 4-wheel drive so that’s a plus. We had intermittent snow showers yesterday but no real accumulations until this snow system finally arrived around 3 AM. I…

Winter Watches / Warnings In Effect For Southern Lower Michigan

Winter Watches / Warnings In Effect For Southern Lower Michigan

Winter storm watches and warnings are already in effect for southern portions of the state.  Computer models seem to disagree as to how much we will actually get.  It ranges anywhere from 3  to 10 inches, the heaviest affecting southern most Michigan.   As luck would have it, I have to work Friday night.  At least we aren’t expected to have strong winds with this one. Our 9 AM temp is 19°F (-7°C), the humidity is 71%  and skies are cloudy…
