Our Sunday is beginning with clear skies, light winds but very cool temperatures. This is expected to continue until Wednesday when our high temp should finally be in the normal range. At least with the sun, it doesn’t seem quite so cold. The grass is greening up a little after the thundershower that we had earlier this week but still no sign of my spring flowers. They just need a few warmer days before they stick their little heads out. …
Last night was very chilly with frost advisories and lows falling below freezing in some spots. We did have some spotty showers yesterday afternoon but skies cleared later in the day. We are heading back home today and I will miss northern Michigan and wish we could stay longer. But all good things come to an end as they say, and we’ll look forward to next year. We ordered a new trailer yesterday as our current one is almost 20…
We finally received some rain overnight, but since I have no rain gauge here, I’m not sure how much. The closest CoCoRahs station that I could find was Mackinaw City, and they reported 0.16 inches. Other stations to our west reported up to 3/4 of an inch. This morning is very cloudy, cool, and damp. They have issued a frost advisory for tonight but not at home, I hope. This will be our last day here in Topinabee and I…
Today is starting out with very cool temps and plenty of sun. We had to run the furnace last night as it got down into the 40s. We should see a rebound to the mid 60s by this afternoon, but rain is also a possibility. I think I heard a few sprinkles on the roof last night although there was nothing showing on radar. The trees have been dripping all morning so I’m quite sure that it did rain a…
We will finally have some comfortable weather today and an end to the abnormal heat wave. It will seem good to me. We took a drive to Petoskey yesterday to see my brother-in-law in the hospital there, then went for lunch at a cute downtown cafe. Petoskey is such a pretty little town, one that I wouldn’t mind living in, but since it is right on Lake Michigan, I know that the winters there would be brutal. We will be…
Today should be the last for this heat wave and I’m thankful for it. Other than Sunday, when we were out on the lake all afternoon, it’s been a struggle for me. I don’t tolerate heat well, especially for long periods of time. I guess that’s why I’ll always live in Michigan. Today we’ll be traveling to Petoskey where my brother-in-law is hospitalized. He isn’t doing well following cancer surgery with complications. The weather should be a little cooler with…
Yesterday, we spent the afternoon on my in-law’s pontoon boat on Mullet lake in Cheboygan. It was wonderful. The temperature was near 90°, but it was very comfortable out on the lake. With it so late in the season, there weren’t many boats out there, and some were taking a few spins around the lake before putting them up for the season. Winds were light so the water was quite calm. Today will be slightly cooler than yesterday but not…
Yesterday was another hot one with highs reaching the 90s once again. This weather is unbelievable. I guess I shouldn’t complain as it could be cold and rainy. This is the final weekend for this campground and things will be winding down all week. We will be here until next Saturday and everyone will have to be out by then. The extended forcast is calling for dry weather and temps will finally return to normal by Wednesday. That will be…
Yesterday was stifling with temps in the low 90s and very humid conditions. This is just unreal for late September in Michigan, but especially in northern Michigan. Normally highs are only in the 60s this time of year. What’s even more remarkable is how dry it is. There were storms forming just to our northwest late yesterday afternoon, but we never had a drop of rain here. Radar looked like the Cheboygan area got a good soaking but all we…
I’m doing my blog here this morning since I am unable to access Weather Together. Our weather is quite eventful, not only the heat but the strange thunderstorms that formed at home yesterday. A fairly large batch of storms formed over Clinton and Shiawassee counties late yesterday afternoon, then seemed to become stationary. It rained for about three hours before the system finally dissipated. We received an inch at my house, but some other areas received over an inch to…
