Winter Storm Winding Down in Mid Michigan

Winter Storm Winding Down in Mid Michigan

For us, the storm wasn’t as bad as predicted.  We never did get the strong winds that they had near the western shorelines of the state, and most of the precip was rain and sleet.  I heard that the Mackinaw Bridge is closed due to 50 mph winds.  It is misting out now and freezing but the sleet cover is keeping it from being that slippery.  We only have about 0.2 in of ice/sleet cover this morning.  The storm warning will expire at noon and temps should be above freezing by then.  Our temperatures will remain well below where they should be for this time of year, and they are not expected to rise much this coming  week.

Our 9:45 AM temp is 31°F (-1°C), the humidity is 90% and was currently have freezing mist.  Winds are from the ENE at 8 mph and skies are cloudy.  Visibility is 5 miles.  The pressure is 29.88 in (1011.6 mb) and falling.  The wind chill is 23°F (-3°C) and the dew point is 28°F (-2°C).  Yesterday’s high was 37°F (3°C) and the overnight low was 28°F (-2°C).  Sunrise was at 6:54 AM and sunset will be at 8:18 PM.  Averages for this date are 57°F / 35°F.
