A Very Chilly, Frosty Morning – Mid Michigan

Most of my flowers are dead but the mums and snapdragons are still hanging on.  It’s time to start cleaning out the gardens and get ready for winter.  It seems to be coming early this year since we have had below-normal temperatures most of October.  The colors haven’t been very bright either especially the reds.  Everyone’s burning bushes are quite brilliant but mine are still mostly green.  I’m hoping for more 60 degree weather before our first snow cover.  Indian Summer hasn’t happened yet.  I hope it comes soon.

Our 10 AM temperature is 38°F (3°C),  the humidity is 84%, and skies are mostly clear.  There was a heavy frost this morning.  The dew point is 33°F (1°C) and winds are from the northwest at 7 mph giving us a wind chill of 33°F (1°C).  Visibility is 10 miles.  Yesterday’s high was 54°F (12°C) and the overnight low was 30°F (-1°C).  Averages for this date are 55°F / 40°F.  The pressure is 30.42 in (1030.1 mb) and rising.  Sunrise was at 8 AM and sunset will be at 6:40 PM.
