BRRRRRR! For Mid Michigan, That’s All I Can Say.

BRRRRRR! For Mid Michigan, That’s All I Can Say.

It was  -14°F when I got up this morning on my thermometer.  Lansing was reporting  -18 as were some other cities.  This is the coldest morning that I can remember in quite a while.  My son had to have surgery on his eye, and when we got to the hospital, the entire front was flooded because of a broken water pipe.  The lobby, patient registration, and the lab were all closed because of water.  Part of the ceiling in registration had fallen but I didn’t hear how much damage was done.  I don’t know if this happened because of the frigid temps but it is in the oldest part of the hospital so who knows?  The sun is shining brightly today but not doing much to warm it up.  Our high is expected to be in the low teens.  This cold is supposed to last until early February with maybe a one or two day reprieve.

Our 12;15 pm temperature is 5°F  (-15°C), the humidity is 52% and winds are calm.  The pressure is 30.61 in (1036.6 mb) and rising.  The dew point is -9°F (-23°C) and visibility is 10 miles.  Yesterday’s high was 10°F (-12°C) and the overnight low was -14°F (-26°C).  Averages for this date are 27°F / 15°F.  Sunrise was at 8:01 AM and sunset will be at 5:34 PM.
