Sub Zero Temps In Mid Michigan This Morning

Sub Zero Temps In Mid Michigan This Morning

When I got up at shortly after 8 this morning, my thermometer read -4°F.  That’s the coldest that we have seen in quite awhile.  We had light to moderate snow showers early Saturday that left us with an additional 1.5 inches of new snow.  We now have about 3 inches of snow cover.  Today is very sunny but it won’t do much to warm things up.  In fact, the high is only expected to reach the single digits.  There is…

A Snowy Saturday Morning in Mid Michigan

A Snowy Saturday Morning in Mid Michigan

There was 1.5 inches of snow cover when I got us this morning and I think it has increased to 2 by now.  It continues to come down and radar is showing that it won’t be ending anytime soon.  There is nothing like a fresh snowfall to brighten up a dull, dreary, winter day. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 19°F (-7°C), the humidity is 85%, and winds are from the NE at 9 mph, gusting to 18 mph.  The wind…

A Little Snow Cover And Cloudy Skies – Mid Michigan

A Little Snow Cover And Cloudy Skies – Mid Michigan

We received just enough snow to turn the ground white, about quarter of an inch.  It does seem brighter out his morning even with the clouds.  Our forecast is calling for a little sun later and that will probably melt most of the snow.  There is another system heading our way for the weekend although local weather gurus  can’t seem to agree on how much we are expecting.  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Our 9:15 AM…

Freezing Mist For Our Tuesday Becoming Sunny For Our Wednesday – Mid Michigan

Freezing Mist For Our Tuesday Becoming Sunny For Our Wednesday – Mid Michigan

We were under a freezing rain advisory Tuesday although freezing mist was what we got.  It began late in the morning and continued most of the day.  Many of the schools are closed today and areas just to our north received more rain than we did.  There wasn’t even enough in the gauge to measure.  The advisory expires at 10 AM and we should see some sun later today. Our 9:30 AM temperature is 26.8°F (-3°C), the humidity is 77%…

Very Cold And Dry In Mid Michigan

Very Cold And Dry In Mid Michigan

This morning began with plenty of sun and temperatures in the low teens.  We now have a little cloud cover and temperatures have moderated a bit.  We don’t expect to  see the 40s anytime soon but at least we don’t have slippery roads to deal with either.  I’m not complaining. Our noon temperature is 31°F (-1°C),, the humidity is 68%, and skies are partly to mostly cloudy.  Winds are from the  west at 8 mph, gusting to 16 mph.  The…

We Could See Some Sun Today – Mid Michigan

We Could See Some Sun Today – Mid Michigan

Winter Storm Gia is moving eastward and will be affecting the nation’s capitol today.  The southwest portions of our state received up to 3 inches in various places but nothing here in Mid-Michigan.  The forecast for today doesn’t sound too bad although highs will only reach around 30°F.  It should become partly sunny by afternoon but winds will still be a factor and will make our day very chilly to be outdoors. Our 9 AM temperature is 19°F (-7°C), the…

Mostly Cloudy And Very Chilly This Friday Morning in Mid Michigan

Mostly Cloudy And Very Chilly This Friday Morning in Mid Michigan

Our local meteorologist was talking about our lack of snow since November.   It has certainly been unusually dry since then with just trace amounts of snow lately.  October and November brought more snow than what we usually see during those months, and everyone was afraid that it was a sign of things to come.  It seems, however, El Nino has kicked in and my area has been very dry  for the past month.  Our extended forecast isn’t calling for any…

Remaining Very Chilly In Mid Michigan

Remaining Very Chilly In Mid Michigan

We won’t see high temperatures in the 30s again until Saturday, then  they should moderate through next week.  January has been very quiet for my area with not much precipitation and no drastically cold temperatures.  All the bad weather stays to our north and I’m certainly not complaining.  I’m sure that we won’t be this lucky all winter, but now that I’m retired, I don’t really care if we get a major storm. Our 9 AM temperature is 21°F (-6°C),…

Unseasonable Temps Coming To An End – Mid Michigan

Unseasonable Temps Coming To An End – Mid Michigan

Yesterday saw highs in the 50s once again with intermittent rain showers in my area.  Winds were the big issue with gusts reaching 50 mph in some areas.  There was freezing rain and snow in the counties north of us but we lucked out once again.  Unfortunately, highs this coming week will only reach the upper 30s at best although conditions will be mostly dry.  It has been a nice winter for us so far, in fact, October and November…

Blustery And Cold in Mid Michigan

Blustery And Cold in Mid Michigan

We have cloudy skies, strong winds and a trace of mixed precipitation this morning.  So far, most of this current winter storm has remained to our north and we have received very little in terms of snow/sleet/rain.  Temperatures are expected to be on the rise for this afternoon when it will turn to all rain.  The issue today will be the winds. Our 8:45 AM temperature is 33°F (1°C), the humidity is 80%, and winds are from the southeast at…
