Major Snow Event In Mid Michigan

Major Snow Event In Mid Michigan

Our snowstorm produced what was promised with a little over 7 inches of new snow to add to the 7.5 inches  already on the ground.  On top of that, it’s really cold.  This cold is affecting most of the country, even into the deep south.  I’m hearing that the wind turbines in Texas are freezing up and many are without power.  So much for green energy.  There is nothing like the tried and true. Our 10:45 AM temp is 14F…

A Much Colder Day Than Yesterday – Mid Michigan

A Much Colder Day Than Yesterday – Mid Michigan

I’m hoping that this is the last very cold day that we’ll have.  Temperatures are suppose to start warming up over the next few days and return more to average.  We are currently under a winter storm advisory with another 3-5 inches of snow expected before noon tomorrow.  If that happens, we’ll have nearly a foot of snow cover.  It seems like it has been snowing everyday since February began.  We keep getting an inch or two every day.  We…

After A Snowy Saturday, We Have A Sunny Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

After A Snowy Saturday, We Have A Sunny Sunday Morning – Mid Michigan

The sun was shining brightly when I got up and hoarfrost covered everything.  It’s such a glorious sight.  I hope the sun remains all day even if temperatures are very cold.  The upcoming forecasts are showing that this frigid air may finally pass and temps will be closer to average once again.  Our forecast is calling for more snow flurries today and that’s what our Saturday produced.  It snow all day with no breaks.  Fortunately, it was light and only…

It Just Won’t Quit Snowing – Mid Michigan

It Just Won’t Quit Snowing – Mid Michigan

We received our usual 1-2 inches of new snow overnight and this seems to be a daily thing anymore.  It wasn’t snowing when I got up but it is now.  Nothing extremely hard, but just enough to cover where we shoveled.  We now have about 5.8 in of snow cover.  I wish that some of it would melt before we get anymore but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Our 9:45 AM temp is 19F (-7C), the humidity is…

Sunny But Still Very Cold – Mid Michigan

Sunny But Still Very Cold – Mid Michigan

Once again we have sun, but it isn’t giving us much in the way of warmth.  I have to admit that when I went shopping earlier, that my car stayed warm while I was in the store.  Other than that, being outdoors isn’t too pleasant.  Regardless, it’s always nice to look outdoors when it’s bright and not deary. Our 3 PM temperature is 19F (-7C), the humidity is 59% and skies are mostly clear.  Our snow cover remains at 100%…

A Cold, Sunny Day In Mid Michigan

A Cold, Sunny Day In Mid Michigan

This weather is a bit redundant I’ll admit, but everyday is the same as the last.  I  really wish that we had some variety, especially in the temperature division.  This frigid weather is getting old.  We had mostly clear skies this morning, but now clouds have taken over.  The one good thing is that the lakes are starting to freeze over, so that lessens the formation of lake effect snow showers.  We have about 5.5 inches of snow cover at…

Another Bright, Sunny, Cold Day In Mid Michigan

Another Bright, Sunny, Cold Day In Mid Michigan

It didn’t get quite as cold last night and it should be a little warmer today.  The sun is out and it doesn’t seem quite a cold.  Winds are quite light and our snow cover remains at around 5.5 inches.  It seems to snow every night anymore . . . . not much, just an inch or less.  I’m hoping for a day where the temps rise about freezing, but it doesn’t appear to be happening anytime soon.  At least…

A Little More Snow After A Sunny Sunday – Mid Michigan

A Little More Snow After A Sunny Sunday – Mid Michigan

Yesterday was beautiful with sun and very few clouds all day.  Unfortunately, it was very cold.  Last night we received about half an inch of new snow and our low fell below zero for the first time this winter.  Highs today won’t make it out of the teens, and this weather is expected to continue most of this week.  It’s a good thing that the winds aren’t very strong.  Once again, snow is in the forecast with a possible inch…

A Little Sun, Some Clouds, and A Lot Of Wind – Mid Michigan

A Little Sun, Some Clouds, and A Lot Of Wind – Mid Michigan

Our issue today is the cold temperatures.  Most of the snow showers seem to be done with although I’m still seeing a few flurries from time to time.  We have about 5 inches of snow cover.  Strong winds are creating drifts making some roads quite slick.  The sun even peeks out every so often.  It’s a good day to just stay home if one doesn’t have to go anywhere. Our 12:45 PM temp is 19F (-7C), the humidity is 67%,…

The snow began late yesterday and continued throughout the night.   Our snow accumulation was about 2 inches this morning, giving us a total ground cover of about 5.5 inches.  We will continue to have intermittent lake effect snow squalls the remainder of the day.  A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 PM. Our 2 PM temperature is 19F (-7C), the humidity is 73%, and skies are cloudy with blowing snow.  Winds are from the WSW at 8-22 mph,…
