Today will be a little warmer than yesterday but still not warm enough to melt any snow. We have 2.8″ of snow cover which doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. The winds have subsided also and that is a good thing. There are no major snow events in our upcoming forecasts, and other than the cold, the weather is expected to remain unremarkable. Our 11AM temperature is 13°F (-11°C), the humidity is 72%, and winds are from the…
This is the coldest day that we’ve had yet this season. Highs are expected to only reach the mid teens, and wind chills will be even lower. Our snow cover is now 2.8″. Our morning started out with partly cloudy skies and plenty of sun, but now clouds have taken over. Not a pleasant day to be outdoors, even for a few minutes. Our 1:15 PM temperature is 16°F (-9°C), the humidity is 70%, and winds are from the NW…
There was freezing drizzle late yesterday and overnight making my deck very slippery this morning. But the sun came out and temperatures rose to 35°F which melted most of the ice. Now we have the winds to deal with. We took down our Christmas tree today so that occupied much of our time. I did manage to go out to get an accurate measurement of snow cover, and we have 2.8″ left on the ground. Temperatures are now dropping so…
The temperature was only 2°F when I got up this morning and we won’t see highs reaching much above 20F today. January is certainly here. At least the winds aren’t too bad. We had snow showers all day Thursday, giving us an additional 2 inches of snow cover. We now have about 6 inches total. The snow was light and dry, so it only measured 0.07″ of water in my rain gauge. Hopefully, no more snow today. Our 1:45 PM…
We are under a wind advisory until 10 PM tonight. As far a snow goes, my area is only expecting maybe an inch. The west side of the state is under blizzard warnings. So this won’t be a good day to be traveling anywhere. We have seen a few light snow showers this morning and there is a light covering on our deck. Temperatures have been dropping since I got up. The birds are keeping the feeders empty and we’ve…
Yesterday was sunny but very cold. The low temp on my weather station read 0°F yesterday although temps from the airport showed 4°F as the low. It is always a few degrees colder here in the country so that’s not surprising. This morning is starting out with milder temperatures and mostly clear skies. There is some nasty weather heading our way although the Lake Michigan shore area will get most of it. At this time, we aren’t expecting more than…
Yesterday was cloudy with light snow falling most of the day. The heavier snow came later and overnight. We got what was predicted (3-6 inches) and I’m happy with that. At least there was no freezing rain and the snow was light. My husband was busy all morning cleaning up with the plow and snow blower. Now skies have cleared and we have plenty of sunshine, but no thawing is happening. Our high today was only 23°F and temps are…
Our morning has seen temperatures falling since early morning and the snow is expected to begin late this afternoon. Most local meteorologists have settled for a forecast of 3-6 inches for most of southern lower Michigan. The online weather sites show different amounts, some more, some less, but I am expecting the 3-6 inches. What ever it is, it will be a messy drive for anyone who has to be out in it. Thankfully, I’m not one of them. Our…
There seems to be some difference of opinions on how much snow we’re supposed to get, but the majority of weather gurus in our area seem to be set on 3-6 inches. A few others are saying that it could be as much as 8 inches. It is supposed to start later today as rain, and end sometime Sunday morning. It’s at times like this when I’m happy to be retired and don’t have to drive in it. What’s worse…
We are expecting what could be a major winter storm on Saturday night and into Sunday. Forecasters haven’t given us a definite snow amount yet but it could be significant. The guestiment at this time is 6+ inches for our area. Thankfully, Friday is supposed to get quite warm and hopefully all this ice will melt first. As for today, temps aren’t expected to rise much above where they are right now, so not much of a thaw today. Our…
