Mid Michigan Weather

We couldn’t ask for  nicer weather than what we had yesterday for early February here in Michigan.  It was sunny most of the day except for periods of altocumulus cloud cover early.  Highs reached near 50° and winds were light.  But now winter will be returning with significant snow expected Wednesday night into Thursday.  I guess we knew that it had to be.  Temperatures will be returning more to normal, so what snow we get could be sticking around for…

We better enjoy today because this weather will be coming to an end tomorrow.  Yesterday was lovely except for the winds.  Today won’t bring us as much sun, but temperatures will still reach the mid 40s and winds will be lighter.  Right now we have filtered sunlight and clouds are on the increase, but no precipitation is expected until tonight. Today is just another much like the past 3 or 4.  Winds are fairly calm, temps are hovering right around freezing, and there isn’t much sun. Our weather has remained constant with very little changes expected in the near future.  I guess that’s a good thing.  Little by little, our snow cover is disappearing and we now have about 50%.  Temperatures are remaining in the upper 20s to low 30s with very little precipitation.  This is the time of year when we usually get our coldest weather, but it’s not happening.  It’s been a very tame winter to be sure.  At least so far. This has been a strange January.  Our temperatures have been mild and most precipitation has been rain.  Any snow that we have received has been light with little accumulation.  In fact, most of our snow cover is now gone. It isn’t really warm but still much above average for this date.  After what the Farmers Almanac predicted, everyone was so sure that we were going to be snowed in this winter.  It’s been anything but.  We continue to have about 1.5 in of snow cover at this time, and we’ve been chipping away and the ice pack on our deck.  We finally have most of it broken up so we can shovel it off.  Good riddance.  Seeing the sun…
