We are getting a few peeks of the sun this morning although the sky is mostly cloudy. Temperatures should be a little warmer, and if the sun would be out for a while, we could get rid of some of this ice. That’s the trouble with ice storms. It started snowing Friday night and hasn’t stopped since. We did lose a little yesterday between snow showers, and last night we had a period of rain which melted a little. We have yet another storm knocking on our door, but this time it should be snow, not ice. It is expected to begin tonight and last through most of tomorrow. The winter weather advisory is from midnight tonight until noon tomorrow. Snow amounts are expected to be around 3-6 inches. That’s much better than ice. Yesterday and today seem quite calm with temps hovering around the freezing mark. Our weather keeps switching from typical winter weather to spring-like. Crazy! Today is more like winter again but highs in the 40s will return over the next few day. Yesterday was a mess but fortunately, most of the precipitation was already ice before hitting the ground. That saved us from more power outages than what there were. I measured about 1.5 inches of ice on my snow board this morning, and my rain gauge had to be thawed out with a hair dryer. The rain began around midnight and has continued through this morning. There was 1.70 inches in my guage at 8:30 and it hasn’t stopped raining since. Our power went out at around 6:30 this morning, but came back on at 8. I was so happy to hear the furnace start up.
