Severe thunderstorms rocked northern Michigan early yesterday causing damage to a school in Cheboygan, and many trees down across the northern areas of the state. Even our campground had some damage done, mainly awning damage and large tree branches down. The Topinabee / Indian River area was under a tornado warning for awhile on Saturday afternoon, so I’m glad that we were not up there. This radar image was from this morning when a line of thunderstorms moved across the state, causing severe storm warnings in various places. We were under a warning briefly, but there was nothing here that was severe. Yes, there was plenty of thunder and lightning but rain amounts were only 0.15″. We took a drive to Sleeper State Park in Caseville yesterday. Caseville is in the thumb area of the state and was a favorite camping destination for us when my kids were little.
