Friday was a drizzly, damp, gloomy day, but the temperature dropped enough at night to turn the rain into snow. We only received about 1/10 of an inch but at least it brightened up the landscape a bit. Highs today will only make it into the low to mid 30s with snow flurries in the forecast. Here it is, just 4 days before Christmas and I’m not sure if I’m mentally ready yet. It seems to come faster every year….
When I got up this morning at around 7:45, we had light sprinkles.. Since that time it has turned into a steady light rain. The forecast was for rain after 10 AM so it arrived early. Our temperatures are remaining above average and that seems good after all the very cold weather that we had in Novermber. Extended forecasts are calling for more of the same until the end of the month. A white Christmas is doubtful for us but…
The fog has finally dissipated after three days. Skies began to clear yesterday in the late afternoon and the humidity dropped. There is no precipitation in our forecast but I doubt that we’ll see much sun either. Forecasters are now saying that there is a chance that we’ll have snow for Christmas and I hope it happens. Visibility is about 1/4 of a mile right now and a freezing fog advisory is in effect. I went out on my deck this morning and it was not slippery although there was a little ice on the railings. The water in my rain gauge was not frozen so it seems that temperatures did not fall much below the freezing mark overnight. There was 0.54 in in my rain gauge this morning after a night of rain and freezing rain. Thankfully, there wasn’t much ice accumulation and the issue now is fog. The rain is expected to end this morning, then becoming sunny with highs reaching into the low 40s this afternoon. All in all, it sounds like a pretty decent day. We have hazy sunshine this morning with a little fog and temperatures aren’t too bad. There was some very light snow last night which barely left a trace on my deck. There really isn’t much to report this morning. Snow is gone except in a few spots where the piles were, but that could change later on. The forecast is calling for snow showers later this afternoon but less than an inch is expected. Although most of our snow is gone, I thought that it had snowed overnight when I looked outdoors this morning but it was a very heavy frost. Today is expected to be a rather tame day weather-wise with plenty of sun but very chilly temperatures. We probably won’t see highs above the freezing mark, but any snow that’s left will probably melt if in a sunny area. We have very little snow cover at this time with barely a trace. We had intermittent light snow showers most of the day Wednesday, and this seems to be what we can expect today. Our high temperatures will remain in the 30s through this week and there are no significant weather systems knocking on our door at this time. I guess that’s a good thing.
