A Sunny Morning With Warmer Weather On The Way – Mid Michigan

A Sunny Morning With Warmer Weather On The Way – Mid Michigan

It is looking like a beautiful morning  with temperatures that almost feel balmy.  We still have about 10 inches of snow cover but that should diminish over the next few days.  We did lose a little yesterday with the sun shining most of the day, and that will continue today and tomorrow with highs expected in the 40s.  It is really starting to look like spring with the position of the sun climbing higher in the sky, and sunset happening…

Yes! We Have Snow! – Mid Michigan

Yes! We Have Snow! – Mid Michigan

We now have about 14 inches of snow cover with the additional 4 inches that we received overnight . . . . and it’s still coming down.  It seems like it will never end.  The plow came down our road late yesterday, but now we have more to remove.  The forecast is calling for an end around 4 pm and I’m hoping that it will be sooner.  This is the most snow that we have had in about 5 years….

The End of our Snow Storm but More Snow to Come – Mid Michigan

The End of our Snow Storm but More Snow to Come – Mid Michigan

Although the big snow is over, we will continue to see a little more accumulations through tomorrow.  It stopped snowing about 4 PM yesterday afternoon but we are having light flurries right now.  At least we had a chance to clear most of it away before the next one comes.  This is really getting old.  I’m certainly ready for spring.  We now have about 11 inches of snow cover with another 1-3 expected by tomorrow.  Southern counties of the state…

We have about 2 inches of new snow so far and still coming down. Latest forecasts are still calling for another 3-5 inches for us. As of 8 AM this morning, we have 8 inches of snow cover so far. Driving to work this afternoon will not be fun but at least we have 4-wheel drive so that’s a plus. We had intermittent snow showers yesterday but no real accumulations until this snow system finally arrived around 3 AM. I…

Winter Watches / Warnings In Effect For Southern Lower Michigan

Winter Watches / Warnings In Effect For Southern Lower Michigan

Winter storm watches and warnings are already in effect for southern portions of the state.  Computer models seem to disagree as to how much we will actually get.  It ranges anywhere from 3  to 10 inches, the heaviest affecting southern most Michigan.   As luck would have it, I have to work Friday night.  At least we aren’t expected to have strong winds with this one. Our 9 AM temp is 19°F (-7°C), the humidity is 71%  and skies are cloudy…

Another Cold, Crisp Morning in Mid Michigan

Another Cold, Crisp Morning in Mid Michigan

Our Tuesday morning is starting out with plenty of sun but frigid temperatures.  We have snow in our forecast every day this week, and there seems to be no sure opinion of how much we will get.  They were predicting 1-2 inches last night and we only got about half an inch.  That’s fine with me.  I’m ready for some stable normal temperatures about now.  It’s getting too late in the season for what we are having. Our 8:30 AM…

4.1 Inches of New Snow for Mid Michigan

4.1 Inches of New Snow for Mid Michigan

We had intermittent snow showers all day Sunday creating almost whiteout conditions at times.  What’s worse is that we have several more systems coming later this week.  We just can’t seem to keep the roads clear which is annoying for me.  I can’t go anywhere until my husband clears the driveway and the road commission clears our road.  My car has low profile tires and they are terrible in snow.  We received 4.2 inches in all and our ground cover…

Another Round of Snow For Mid Michigan

Another Round of Snow For Mid Michigan

Snow began in the early morning hours and is continuing to fall at this time.  We are under a winter weather advisory until 3 PM today.  I measured about 2.5 inches of new snow so far and our landscape is all white once again.  We could get another inch or two before it is done.  Our temperature is mild right now but is expected to fall as the day wears on.  I’m getting tired of shoveling. Our 9 AM temp…

More Snow Heading Our Way – Mid Michigan

More Snow Heading Our Way – Mid Michigan

With our present snow cover down to about 50%, that will change by tomorrow.  There is another snow system that will bring 3-6 inches to our area.  This seems to be a pattern that we have been stuck in lately.  We’re lucky that most of it melts between storms, otherwise we would have about a foot on the ground by now.  Temps will be milder today and that will be welcome. Our 10:15 AM temp is 24°F (-4°C), the humidity…

A Sunny, Frigid Groundhog Day in Mid Michigan

A Sunny, Frigid Groundhog Day in Mid Michigan

It’s no surprise that the groundhog saw his shadow today, but regardless, it’s a beautiful morning. I just wish it was warmer.  We are under the influence of another Polar Vortex and they are getting tiresome to be sure.  Our snow cover has been reduced to about two inches where snow remains, but about one third of the ground is bare.  There is another system heading our way for the weekend which could dump up to 3-4 inches of new…
