Another Foggy Morning – Mid Michigan

Another Foggy Morning – Mid Michigan

We woke to visibility at less than quarter of a mile this morning.  This has been common over the past three days.  Yesterday was cloudy most of the day and I’m hoping to see more sun today.  We are starting to see some trees  turning color but they are few and far between.  It seems like we usually have more color by mid September than we do now.  Maybe that’s a sign of a late autumn.  I would be happy…

Summer-Like Weather Continues In Mid Michigan

Summer-Like Weather Continues In Mid Michigan

Our weather is wonderful and I hope it continues through the remainder of the month.  Hurricane Florence is expected to make landfall today and my prayers go out for those in it’s path.  The amount of rain that they are expecting is staggering and I hope that everyone has evacuated from these areas.  As for us, our weather remains tranquil with above normal temperatures expected through the weekend. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 64°F (18°C), the humidity is 100% and…

Dense Fog To Start Our Day – Mid Michigan

Dense Fog To Start Our Day – Mid Michigan

Our morning began with visibility close to zero, but now that the sun is up, it seems to be dissipating.  Today should be the beginning of a significant warm-up for us with highs expected in the mid 70s.  Hurricane Florence should keep a large high pressure center in place most of the week which will bring us wonderful weather.  Our last trip to our campground is in another week and I’m hoping that this weather holds until we get back. …

Feels Like Fall in Mid Michigan

Feels Like Fall in Mid Michigan

With the eastern seaboard bracing for Hurricane Florence, we are expected to be spared from this storm, even though it appears to be heading right for us.  One local meteorologist  said that strong high pressure will keep it to our east and it will stall out over those unfortunate to be in it’s path causing flooding rains.  I certainly hope it does miss us since we don’t need anymore rain.  At this time, our extended forecast looks terrific with plenty…

Cloudy And Cool This Saturday Morning – Mid Michigan

Cloudy And Cool This Saturday Morning – Mid Michigan

I won’t complain about the temperatures but I really wish that we’d have more sun.  It was in the forecast for yesterday afternoon but it didn’t happen.  Maybe today.  At least we can now go outdoors  now without feeling. wet.  There is a large area of rain to our south, in Indiana and Ohio.  The forecast isn’t calling for any rain for us today and I hope that is so.  We sure don’t need anymore. Our 9:30 AM temperature is…

A Welcome Cool-Down For Mid Michigan

A Welcome Cool-Down For Mid Michigan

What a difference a few days makes.  Today feels like a day in late September or early October but that’s okay.  We haven’t even reached 70°F today and it’s possible that we won’t.  From what I’ve heard, these cooler temperatures are just temporary and there will be more very warm weather still to come.  I hope that it happens at the end of the month which will be our last trip to our campground.  This is my favorite time of…

Ten Confirmed Tornadoes In The Past Week In Michigan

Ten Confirmed Tornadoes In The Past Week In Michigan

The first week of September hasn’t been kind to Michigan as many lines of storms moved through bringing damaging winds and tornadoes to the state over a 5 day period.  Fortunately, we didn’t get any here but one of the tornadoes struck just to our west in Bath Township, just north of Lansing. https://www.mlive.com/weather/index.ssf/2018/09/recent_tornadoes_were_spread_o.html We received just under an inch of rain total during this period.  Now that the cold front has finally moved through, our temperatures will be much…

Finally, An End To This Heat In Sight – Mid Michigan

Finally, An End To This Heat In Sight – Mid Michigan

Today should be the last of this oppressive weather.  A cold front will move through with more storms expected, then some decent weather will be a welcome relief.   We should see highs only in the 70s for the remainder of the week.  This has been an unusually stormy early September for Michigan.  I hope that it is over for the remainder of our autumn season. Right now (11 AM), our temp is 84°F (29°C), the humidity is 66%, and skies…

More Flooding Rains For The Same Areas – Mid Michigag

More Flooding Rains For The Same Areas – Mid Michigag

Yesterday brought more heavy rain to the same areas that were affected by Tuesday’s storms.  We sat out last night watching the lightning as it passed to our  northwest.  We did receive a little rain overnight, only 0.01″.  The areas that were hit received over an inch of rain in some places.  This is becoming a daily event and it is expected to continue until Thursday.  Then we will finally get some dryer, cooler temps.  The past several days have…

Stormy Weather Continues in Mid Michigan

Stormy Weather Continues in Mid Michigan

Yesterday was quite tranquil until late afternoon.  We then began to see storms develop with even a tornado warning in the Jackson area.  I haven’t heard of any damage or actual tornadoes however.  We had a couple of thunderstorms move through early this morning giving us total of 0.54″ of precip for the day.  Today continues to see the possibility of more storm development and very warm temperatures.  Highs are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s with continued…
