Winter Storm Warning In Effect For Northern Lower Michigan

This doesn’t really come as a surprise since they gave us a heads up since last week.  Until now, we have been lucky with the previous storms staying to our south, but now it’s our turn.  NOAA is saying 6-9 inches possible for my area.  On the positive side, the temps will be cold enough so that any snow should be light and fluffy, easy to shovel.  On the negative side, strong winds will accompany it so blowing and drifting will definitely be a factor.

Our 9:00 AM temp is 10.6°F (-12°C), the humidity is 74% and winds are from the west at 8 mph.  The pressure is 29.96 in (1014.6 mb) and falling.  Skies are partly to mostly cloudy.  The wind chill is 0°F (-18°C) and visibility is 10 miles.  We received a quarter inch of new snow last night and our snow cover is about 1.5 inches.  Yesterday’s high was 17°F (-8°C) and the overnight low was 9°F (-13°C).  Average temps for this date are 26°F / 13°F.
