A Rainy Week Continues in Mid Michigan

A Rainy Week Continues in Mid Michigan

Yesterday was supposed to be a near washout according to our forecast, but it was anything but.  We even saw a little sun in the afternoon after a few sprinkles.  It was really a pleasant surprise.  Temperatures were at the normal level and winds were fairly light.  Rain finally moved in this morning but it didn’t last long.  It left 0.05″ in my gauge, and I’m pretty sure that it isn’t finished yet.  Radar is showing a large area of…

After Sunday’s Mess, We Have Sunshine – Mid Michigan

After Sunday’s Mess, We Have Sunshine – Mid Michigan

Sunday was a miserable day weather-wise.  That seemed to be the case for the entire eastern United States.  We had a mixed bag of winter precipitation, switching from snow to sleet to rain all day long.  Finally it turned to all snow overnight.  We had half an inch of snow cover this morning and a total of 0.64″ of water in my rain gauge.  0.14″ of that was melted snow.  The southern and eastern states were plagued with strong tornadoes…

A Return To Winter In Mid Michigan

A Return To Winter In Mid Michigan

Yesterday was beautiful except for a very brisk wind.  At least we had normal temperatures and plenty of sun.  Today will be a different story.  It just started snowing when I got up at 8 AM, then it changed to rain.  Now it keeps changing between rain and sleet.  Our forecast is saying that we  could possibly get up to 3 inches of snow by the time it’s done.  Tomorrow the highs will be back in the 50s so it…

Sunny And Cold This Morning – Mid Michigan

Sunny And Cold This Morning – Mid Michigan

We had rain into yesterday morning, then it cleared by afternoon and there was plenty of sun.  Unfortunately, I can’t say that it was a nice day because the winds made it very unpleasant to be outdoors.  Temperatures were quite warm but the wind made it seem much colder than what it actually was.  We received just under quarter of an inch of rain total, and our grass has suddenly become very green from it.  Snow is in our forecast…

A Rainy Morning In Mid Michigan

A Rainy Morning In Mid Michigan

Temperatures remained constant through the night and highs today will be quite warm.  This is in advance of another cold front which will affect our weekend.  In fact, the upcoming week doesn’t look too good.  The biggest issue will be the winds over the next few days.  At least we aren’t getting the blizzard conditions that our neighbors to the west are getting.  The two inches of snow that we received yesterday didn’t last long, and most had melted by…

Two Inches Of Snow For Our Thursday Morning In Mid Michigan

Two Inches Of Snow For Our Thursday Morning In Mid Michigan

Yup, we woke up to a white world once again.  Most of it was supposed to be rain but that didn’t happen.  It began about midnight and I’m not sure when it ended, but there was two inches to shovel off the deck this morning.  The pups weren’t too happy about it either.  They thought that spring was here.  Didn’t we all?  What’s worse it that  the weekend it expected to be stormy with strong winds expected . . ….

Nasty, Winter Weather Returning To Mid Michigan

Nasty, Winter Weather Returning To Mid Michigan

We have to let go of the fine, spring weather that we have had over the past several days, and get ready for some  rain / snow/ sleet / freezing rain which will begin tonight.  This is expected to continue into the weekend and we won’t see anything near 70°F for awhile.  That really isn’t unusual for early April in Michigan, and it’s still better than what last April was like.  At least, even if there is measurable snow this…

Warmer Than Normal Continues In Mid Michigan

Warmer Than Normal Continues In Mid Michigan

Yesterday was a real treat for us with a high of 71°F in the afternoon.  Today isn’t quite as nice but still warmer than normal.  We have a brisk west wind which is a bit uncomfortable but still a nice day compared to what it could be.  Once again, we have snow in our forecast although we shouldn’t get that much here.  Plus, whatever we get isn’t going to last that long.   That’s supposed to happen later this week. Our…

Real Spring Weather Has Arrived in Mid Michigan

Real Spring Weather Has Arrived in Mid Michigan

This weekend should be a real winner for us in the mitten state.  Highs should reach well into the 60s and little if no rain is expected.  I think it’s time to start getting some screens on the windows or getting my flower beds cleaned out.  Maybe I’ll do a little of each. Our 9 AM temp is 45°F (7°C), the humidity is 99% and we had dense fog earlier but most has burned off now.  Winds are calm and…

A Touch Of Winter Returned On Thursday – Mid Michigan

A Touch Of Winter Returned On Thursday – Mid Michigan

We had a cold east wind blowing all day Thursday and a mix of rain and sleet fell late Thursday night.  Some reported freezing rain but I didn’t see any evidence of that here.  I could hear sleet hitting my windows for a short time, but then it turned back to all rain.  There was 0.07″ in my gauge this morning and radar is showing most of the mess to be past us now.  It should be a fairly decent…
