Yesterday was quite warm, sunny, and we lost quite a bit of snow cover. Current snow measured 5.5″ this morning. Unfortunately there was ice everywhere from the dropping temps and melting yesterday. I got out this morning and measured our actual snow pack and it is now 7.3 inches. That’s down 3.2 inches from right after the storm last Wednesday. I don’t think that there was much melting but more settling than anything. I noticed some thawing yesterday but not much. We did briefly get over the freezing mark earlier but it didn’t last long. Clearing snow, even with a snowblower, is a lot of work when you have this much snow. We have clear skies today, but with temps in the teens, it doesn’t do much to warm it up. The rain began late yesterday afternoon and continued into the overnight. I’m not sure when it changed over to snow but there was 3.5 inches already on my deck when I got up shortly after 8AM.
