Mid Michigan Weather

After a weekend of a mixed bag of weather, at least today should bring us temperatures closer to normal.  Saturday had a mix of everything from sun, clouds, and snow showers.  Sometimes it was even everything at one time.  Yesterday was more stable although we did pick up 0.06″ of rain overnight.  I’m not seeing rain in our forecast for today but that doesn’t mean that it won’t happen, especially looking at the radar.  This is typical November weather here…

Halloween was a bust for our area with moderate to heavy rain and cold temperatures.  Some kids had to go trick-or-treating in the snow.  Our snow didn’t come until overnight when we received about half an inch.  It melted soon after daybreak which is a good thing.  I didn’t even get my Halloween decor out this year since their was so much wind, and one TV station put the extreme Halloween weather stats on.  According to them, this Halloween broke…

Rain began yesterday in the afternoon and it hasn’t let up since.  There was 0.64″ in my rain gauge at 8:30 this morning and it has been raining ever since.  What’s worse is that we are expecting snow tonight, although it isn’t expected to stick.    Our past four Halloweens have been rainy, but this one will be nasty.  I doubt that many kids will be out, just the die-hards. We woke to moderate rain which measured 0.34″ in my gauge.  It has sort of let up a little at this time but radar is showing a lot more coming.  I’m seeing that the western side of the state got some snow in the CoCoRahs reports, but we’ve been lucky so far.  Snow is in our forecast, however, for the end of the month.  Halloween is not expected to be great by any means. Yesterday turned into a fairly nice day with clearing skies which resulted in a beautiful sunset.  Highs reached the low 50s and the winds were light to moderate.  This morning is our coldest yet this season with lows falling into the upper 20s in some places.  It was 30°F on my thermometer at 8 AM.  I guess it’s time to realize that this will be the norm from now on.  At least, with us returning to standard time, the mornings…

Yesterday turned out to be a bright, beautiful day except for the wind.  Regardless, we went for a ride to a cider mill in St John, and enjoyed the colors on the way.  We aren’t quite at peak color yet but probably in the few more days.  The high winds didn’t do too much damage to the leaves although some trees are totally bare already.  Hopefully, we’ll enjoy a more quiet setting up until Halloween.
